E Komo Mai means welcome in Hawaiian and is a beach located in Hawaii. Alana and her best friend Nora play at this beach everyday at the age of 5. Alana: [giggle] this water feels great. Nora: I know right! [giggle] let's be friends forever! Alana: of course!
Alana began running back to the beach house. Nora and Alana's mom were sitting on the porch and didn't see what happened. Alana: [screaming] MOM! Alana's Mom: what happened? Alana: [sobbing] something took Nora. Alana's Mom: what took Nora?
Alana describes the figure as a mermaid. A woman with long blonde hair, But she could barely tell what it was. The police came and searched for Nora but they never found her.

(15 YEARS LATER) Alana and her friend Brooke were sitting on their beach house porch. Watching E Komo Mai beach. Alana: this sunset is nice. Brooke: [smiles] the waters nicer. Alana: yeah. Brooke: lets go for a swim. Alana: No thanks. Brooke: why don't you even swim? Alana: you'd think I'm crazy like the rest. Brooke: you can tell me anything Alana: [yawn] I think I'm gonna go to sleep. Brooke: me too.
When Alana woke up that morning she seen a diary at the foot of her bed with a rose on it.
