A Daughter's Yearn

I close my eyes to see your face
only to open them for an instant erase
I can't believe this is the time and the place
for you to suddenly slip my fervid embrace
I tune out the world just to hear you speak
knowing your words will be distant and bleak
I wipe my eyes for they have started to leak
I can't control myself, I am much too weak
I search my heart to feel your love
hoping my veins are connected to the source above
which carries blood through the symbol of a dove
that lands beside me every time your name is spoken of
I dream at night in hopes to feel your touch
waking to find my pillow as a disappointing clutch
Reality starts to hit and its all just too much
I'll never again feel your arms wrapped around me as such
I clear my mind to try to understand
that here on earth, you were merely a servant of a man
who makes no mistakes, and who always has a plan
Beside the Creator, one day I too will stand
I throw up my hands to finally let go
peace is a gift I know he will bestow
I'll think of you till the day my breath starts to slow
even then, I'll call your name in hopes that you'll show
