Eg.
"honey I bought you a brand new latest model of Lamborghini and that new iPhone you wanted even though we are poor"
I throw five hundred dollars at the waitress "keep the change"
This doesn't mean that you can't have the cliche of that. If you want to write a story like that, write it.
