grandpa told us stories
about his yellow car
that he would ride
every Sunday the air
blowing through his hair
(although he is bald now)
despite the fact that memories,
names and faces now elude him
he never forgot about that car
for whenever he spoke of it
we could see the light in
his eyes, a sign that he was
once young and full of life
and not the old fragile man
confined to a wheelchair
