Today was hectic. Sam and Elizabeth just finished their finals and their brains were fried from studying. As they always do after their last test, they were hanging by the beach, sitting on a blanket laid out on the ground, with a wine bottle and Mac burgers.

"-But what about Egypt and the pyramids?" asked Sam. Elizabeth watched the horizon where the sea meets the skies as she hummed in thought.

"Egypt sounds cool and ancient, and Vanessa told me that when she and her parents were there, they really enjoyed the differences. Sam, you know what she said?" he turned his head to look at her, "You can enter the pyramid! You keep crawling up a tight tunnel on your knees till you reach a grand chamber and it is filled with golden writings and drawings on the walls."

Elizabeth was excited as she spoke. She knew from Vanessa, a girl with her at school, about how Egypt was cooler than it sounded. Sam on the other hand was watching Elizabeth with the warmth and calm of a hot chocolate drunk by a window on a rainy night.

"Will you ever want to travel with that one person?" He asked, trying to shift the focus to something a bit romantic. He was trying nonstop to drop hints, but he was failing.

"Yeah, why not" She replied shortly, with the least amount of attention possible. Depressing Sam's trial even more.

"What if that one person has to go somewhere without you for a long time, will you be interested in a long distance relationship with him?" he pushed, she sighed and her focus seeped away from the horizon and covered Sam's existence.

"If I ever find the one, I wouldn't want to let them go Sam. Isn't it The dream? To find the one?" A soft smile was on her face and Sam couldn't help but smile back, even though he could see how her eyes were vacant in a way that showed how she didn't think of him that way. Elizabeth was really waiting for the one, and obviously she didn't think it was him.

"I don't know if I will be able to handle the distance to be honest," he added to the conversation, preventing her smile from stretching further.

"Love has to be very strong to withstand distance. Distance is a big challenge... distance for me-it eliminates the love"

Elizabeth's eyes narrowed a bit showing her discomfort with the harsh reality of life," let us agree to disagree, Sam"

Ignoring her, he went on," What if your person lets you go, do you think you will ever take them back?"

A moment passed before she contributed with an answer," I don't know Sam. I don't know who I will be when he decides to come back. I think I will have moved on... and if someone leaves me, I think this makes him lose whatever he had of me. I have to accept what I deserve.... Or maybe more than what I think I deserve, since it is human nature to belittle your value,"

He nodded slowly and starting standing up, "It is all theory in any case."

Elizabeth looked up to him, covering her eyes from the sun and sighed a little because she could feel some vibe from Sam. She has been feeling it a lot lately and it is becoming strange. In her mind, Sam was her person. Because for her, her person didn't have to be romantic. Sometimes your person is just your best friend, your emotional safe haven. And well, she couldn't help but feel like love was overrated... after all, what are the chances that the love her parents share, reappears in this world?
