CHAPTER 1: MIA'S VALENTINE DATE

Mia is walking back and forth in the condo unit she shares with bestfriend, Gigi, wringing her fingers, looking very anxious.

Gigi: Mia, ano ba hindi ka mapakali dyan? Alam ko wala tayong date ngayong Valentines Day. Pero it's not yet the end of the world. Kalma ka lang, Beshie.

Mia: Beshie, darating na sya any moment now.

Gigi: Sino?!

Mia: Si Jacob. Beshie, he asked me out on a date tonight and I said YES.

Gigi: What??? Si Jacob??? Hahaha...Seryoso ka?

Mia: Beshie naman i'm so nervous na and you can still laugh at me.

Gigi: Kasi naman Mia girl. Ganun ka na ba ka-desperada? Alam mo namang hindi kagwapuhan si Jacob, hindi rin funny, hindi yummy, hindi richie. Waley, Beshie! Bakit ka ba kasi umoo makipag date sa kanya?

Mia: Hindi ko nga rin alam e. Matagal ko na kasi syang cubemate sa office. Parang naawa lang ako and i can't say no. Mabait naman sya kasi. Tahimik lang. Pero Gigi, parang nakakahiyang lumabas with him no? Lalo na on a Valentines Day. Kasi hindi sya talaga gwapo diba?

Gigi: Hindi talaga!

Ding Dong!

The doorbell rang. Mia panicked and looked through the peephole and saw it was Jacob. She turned to Gigi and whispered.

Mia: Gigi buksan mo, buksan mo!

Gigi: Ako pa talaga?

Mia: Sige na please. Magbibihis na ko.

Gigi opened the door.

Gigi (with a fake smile): Hi, Jacob.

Jacob: Good evening, Gigi. Happy Valentines.

Gigi: Ay, thank you. Same to you.

Jacob: Uhmmm...nandyan ba si Mia?

Gigi: Ay oo, nagbibihis na sya. Pasok ka muna.

Gigi let Jacob into their living room.

Gigi: Upo ka muna. You want coffee, tea or juice? Joke lang, wala kaming tea at juice, coffee lang ang choice mo.

Jacob: Hahaha, no thanks. Malamang mag cocoffee rin kami ni Mia mamaya e. Baka ma-caffeine overload na ako.

Gigi: Ay oo nga. Baka hindi na kumurap yang mata mo. Hahaha. Teka pupuntahan ko lang si Mia sa room nya ha. Baka tapos nang magpa beauty para sayo. Hehe. Joke!

Gigi knocked on Mia's bedroom.

Gigi: Mia, nandito na ang prince charming mo.

The door opened and Gigi went in. Mia was already dressed in a camo shirt, olive cargo pants and white sneakers.

Gigi: Ay! San ang giyera, Beshie? Ano ba yang attire mo bakit ganyan?

Mia: Kailangan pa bang umeffort?

Gigi: Ah, wag ganun Besh. Umoo ka, so panindigan mo na yan. Magbihis ka naman ng naaayon sa okasyon, wag yung pang National Heroes Day. Magsuklay ka naman, mukhang nakipag sagupaan ka na e. And mag lipstick ka rin please. Hindi naman siguro kayo maghahalikan ni Jacob diba? Unleeezz...

Mia: No way, Gigi! Kadiri ka. Kasi namaaaan... I hate myself for getting into this.

Mia changed her clothes and came out of the room looking radiant in her white sleeveless blouse and flattering jeans. With some make-up on, too.

Jacob (looking very pleased and excited, stood up): Hi Mia! Happy Valentines..

Mia (with an awkward smile): Hi! Happy Valentines din. Shall we go?

Jacob nodded.

The two went out the door.

Gigi (teasing): Enjoy, lovebirds.

Mia gave her a curt look.

Jacob (natatawa): Thanks, Gigi.
