After they signed the marriage certificate, Suzanne looked lovingly up at Javier in front of the registrar. She wore a simple, long white dress with laced arms and a small veil. Javier held onto her arm tightly as he smiled down on her. He wore a black suit with a silver waistcoat, white shirt and a small spray of white flowers on the side.
Behind them stood Kenzo, with his arms folded, Ignacio, Mateo, Juan, Roderigo, Diego and a few other security team members acting as family and friends.
Lexi asked Kenzo quietly. "If all of you are here, who's in security back home?"
"The French team, which is huge. Most of security is actually French. Most of the Spanish team are here, except for Javier and I, who are dual nationals." Kenzo said.
Suzanne was smiling as she chatted to Spangna and Lexi while she wrapped her arms around Javier's right arm. Her tight grip made him nearly spill his champagne glass that was filled with bucks fizz, before he leant down to kiss her.
Anyone watching would imagine that they were a genuinely happy couple, yet this was a carefully staged performance.
They all left the registrar and pretended to head off to the 'reception'. This was the hotel where Javier and Suzanne were going to spend the night. They all were the worse for wear after overindulging on the very real champagne that Chéri had gifted to them when Lennon told him. The only ones who hadn't been drinking were Javier, who was having mostly mocktails, and Kenzo as he had a very low alcohol tolerance anyway.
Spangna held her champagne flute up in a drunken fashion. "Okay, I don't know about you guys but I could pack away a Balti about now."
Lexi shouted. "NO! I want Chinese."
Alexandre, one of the few French security team members present, who Marcel had sent to watch Spangna, rolled his eyes, "I don't think we should be taking suggestions regarding food from the English."
Diego asked. "Does anyone fancy a Paella Valenciana?"
Javier held his hand up.
"Nah, I'm on-board with the Chinese idea." Ignacio said.
"Yeah. I want some of that pork fried...whatever the fuck." Mateo said as everyone agreed on ordering Chinese.
Spangna asked. "Who's gonna order? I can't pronounce half these names."
Rodriguez pointed to the menu. "That's why they have numbers. Just order a twenty-three, and four eighty-five and so on."
"Okay." Juan said as he called the Chinese Take Away and couldn't even understand what the guy on the phone was saying. He then tried to order, even with all the talking noise happening in the background.
"Hold on! I've heard they put rat or whatever into the food and keep the good stuff for their own." Javier said.
"True!" Came shouts from many team members.
"I can't understand this guy!" Juan said to everyone.
"Oh, put Kenzo on!" Javier shouted, "Anyway, if it's that place his cousin works In, then we're guaranteed big portions of the good stuff! I want anything Schezwan style." He added.
Spangna walked back, bringing Kenzo and telling him what they all wanted. Kenzo grabbed the phone and started shouting Into it in Cantonese, making everyone laugh.
"And people say German sounds aggressive," Rodriguez said, "I bet they're having a perfectly nice conversation too." He added.
Every time Spangna read a number from the menu that someone wanted to order, Kenzo would translate and go on quite a long, loud rant which to those gathered, sounded hilarious. However, Kenzo managed to pull some strings and got them lots of free dishes and extras too, at a discount as his cousin owned the restaurant.
