The ground shakes as the skies roared. The silhouette of a man can be seen far against the sun. He raises his right-hand and.

I awake. Slowly opening my eyes, I see the ceiling of my room. The reminder to me that what I see beforehand is but a dream. As I continue to gain full consciousness, I sit up straight on my bed facing the window. The window with the view not common as others, the view of the blooming business district of Makati. As my eyes adjust to the rising sun, I attempt to focus on the alarm clock. I read

"7:30 AM."

"7:30 AM?" I ask in confusion.

"7:30 AM!" I say in panic.

As I realize that I am about to be late for the 3rd time. I stand up and rush to my closet. In the process I get caught by my blanket that is wrapped around my leg and I fall facedown to the floor. I'm stunned for 5 seconds and I hear from the other room the voice of my mother:

"What are you doing?"
"Aren't you late?"

I then reply with

"No, I'm not!"

I did so while I make an estimate that I will be late for around 30 minutes for school. The commute that I take is not as terrible as others' commute. While others took even 2 hours at best, mine took 30 minutes at worst. I would reflect more on how 30 minutes is still a pretty long time for a commute, but I'm running late, so I'll save it for another time.

Having recovered from my fall earlier, I open my closet and to my expectations I see it almost empty. Only a shirt and jeans are left behind. As I am a man who is not known for his fashion sense. I take them without hesitation although with a bit of anxiety over what people will think of my outfit. I have this thought often although not enough to bother me and make me buy better clothes.

So, I take off my goodnight clothes and put on my away clothes. In the process I look at the shower for 5 seconds. I then whisper to myself

"It's fine"

I button my pants, zip my zipper, and I run out and to the dining. I see a loaf of bread, some peanut butter, and a pitcher filled with water.

I am a busy man, or rather one that overslept, so I just take a slice of bread and scurry off to the door. I approach the door and I see my shoes. I stare at them for 5 seconds and I realize something

"Gago, I have no socks"

I say this as I exhale in a tired manner.

I run back to my room, I grab the following: a sock missing a pair, another sock missing a pair, another sock missing a pair, and finally a pair that's not missing a sock.

I run back to the door, put on the socks that I have proudly found as a pair, put on my shoes, and then finally put on my socks.

I look at the clock hanging on the upper side of the door and I read

"7:35"

"Nice" I say to myself.

I then open the door, run off to the elevator and click the going down button as fast as I can. The door immediately opens, which is a rare occasion because often, I would have to wait for the elevator to get to my floor.

"What a blessing" I think to myself.

I head on inside, click the ground floor button and then the close button.

Before the doors could close I see in the distance a womanly figure who seems to also be in a rush. I have been raised properly by my parents, so I would, regardless of my situation, still choose to open the elevator door for this woman.
