Ch1 - What Is Brexit?
Brexit. Ahhh everybody's favourite topic.
Back in 2016 lots of people, who were eligible, voted on a referendum that changed the fate of the UK forever... And in case you are wondering; No I didn't vote (I was 16), No I wouldn't have voted brexit (lack of information, guarantees and a dislike of uncertain change) and yes, after some of the new legislations that the EU has been pushing, I am now on the fence, do I embrace the change and run away from the EU's "European Union Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market", or stay and fear the wrath of a potentially censored and muted future. Now that my personal opinion (you do not have to agree with it, as each person is allowed their own opinion) we will commence our little story.
Literrally, 'Brexit' is the combination of the words Britain (The islands consisting of Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland and the one everyone seems to forget about Gibraltar (Gibraltar is technically not but it is technically "owned" by Britain, with all of it's responsibilities as a country is handled by the UK) (disputed territory) (Source 1b: Definition) (Source 2: Gibraltar 🇬🇮 )
Now you are probably wondering, England, UK (United Kingdom)
