Mingyu looked very depressed the next day. He was supposed to meet Wonwoo in front of school after class the day before, but Wonwoo never showed, and apparently it was because he went to practice instead. Mingyu was so sad- he really wanted Wonwoo to like him back, but for some reason, any time that Mingyu thought he was making progress, Wonwoo would almost revert back to his "old ways." Mingyu didn't want to have to use force to get Wonwoo to like him, but the boy left him no choice.
"Chan, help," Mingyu begged his friend.
"Listen, Gyu, I helped you all I could, but there's nothing else I can really do. I've known Wonwoo for a while, but he's still a question mark to me," Chan sighed.
Mingyu slammed his head against the table and let out a whimper. Chan patted the top of Mingyu's head and sighed.
"I just want him to like me back," Mingyu's voice wavered as he looked up at Chan.
"I know," Chan nodded. "The thing is, it's not like he blew you off because he doesn't like you-"
"What? Wonwoo likes me?" Mingyu asked.
"No, that's not what-"
"You're saying Wonwoo likes me! Why won't he reciprocate my feelings?" Mingyu interrupted again.
"Mingyu, let the poor kid finish," Jeonghan sat down with the two boys.
The boys were hanging out at Jeonghan's place. Jeonghan set down a plate of food for them to snack on while they all did their homework. Chan started to eat the food that Jeonghan set out.
"What I was saying was that Wonwoo didn't blow you off because he doesn't like you, he just blew you off because basketball holds higher importance to him right now," Chan finally finished.
"Wait, didn't you tell me that Wonwoo likes Soonyoung?" Jeonghan asked. "Isn't he also on the basketball team?"
Mingyu's jaw dropped. Chan shot Jeonghan a look before looking back at Mingyu. Mingyu was on the verge of tears. He looked at Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, then Chan, then Jeonghan, and then a singular tear streamed down his cheek as he asked, "Is that true?"
"Yes, but no," Chan explained. "Soonyoung is on the basketball team, and Wonwoo did have a crush on him, but now Soonyoung is emotionally unavailable, so Wonwoo moved on."
Mingyu's tears cleared away in seconds, and his face brightened up as he blinked rapidly. "That's nice to hear," he said while shining brilliantly.
"Mingyu still needs to get Wonwoo to like him, though," Jeonghan pointed out.
"Yeah, and the way to do that is to give Mingyu a higher importance over basketball and movies," Chan said.
"Wouldn't Mingyu joining the basketball team be the way to do that?" Jeonghan asked.
"Actually, I'm not allowed to play any sports at school," Mingyu said sadly. "I bring destruction wherever I go."
Jeonghan and Chan both blinked at the boy before turning back to each other. Mingyu looked down at his lap like a sad puppy.
"It was freshman year-" Mingyu started.
"Mingyu, let's hear your sob story later. Right now, you need a plan of action," Jeonghan patted the boy's back.
Mingyu nodded. Chan takes out his notebook and starts to draw out Wonwoo. Jeonghan and Mingyu watch Chan curiously as Chan writes little details about Wonwoo.
"Hey, Chan, you're pretty good at drawing," Mingyu pointed out.
"Thank you, but let's focus on the big picture right now," Chan points at the list that he made. "This is a list of the stuff that Wonwoo holds importance too. If you show the same interests, then he'll most likely be interested in you. You already showed interest in the movies he likes, and because you can't show interest in basketball- please do not tell me about your chaotic freshman year- if you show interest in working out, then he'll most likely start to pay more attention to you."
Mingyu nodded slowly and looked at Jeonghan. Jeonghan, at that point, didn't care anymore and started working on his homework. Mingyu looked back at Chan and said, "Will you help me?"
Chan placed his hand on Mingyu's hand and said, "Yes, I will help you."
