What are submissions?
New Adult Reads is a profile that features well-written works featuring new adult themed content. We aim to give attention to works that will appeal to an audience seeking this type of work.
You can apply to have your work featured by our profile.
Before you submit your work, please make sure it satisfies the following criteria:
- Grammar - Work must have correct punctuation, use proper spelling, and have an overall good finished quality.
- Complete - Stories must be marked complete or, if ongoing, updated within the last 3 months with plans to continue.
- Flow - Featured stories must be well-written, compelling, and flow well from chapter to chapter.
- Suitable - Stories must be specific to the profile (aimed at the new adult audience).
- Rated - Stories that do not adhere to Wattpad's Content Guidelines or are incorrectly rated will not be considered.
- Standalone - We only accept stories that are standalones or the first in a series.
- English stories only - At the moment, we can only accept stories written in English.
- Mature Content - We accept mature content, however we will only accept some stories with sexual content. We understand many people feel this is a natural aspect of new adult. We also understand there are many people who do not care to read such material. Types of mature content we accept that adheres to Wattpad guidelines: mentions of abuse; mentions of suicide (however, we do ask that readers are properly warned if the main character commits/has thoughts of suicide); mentions of self-harm, including eating disorders; explicit acts that do not occur 'on-screen', such as acts of physical, sexual, emotional, or verbal violence; some scenes depicting emotional and/or verbal violence; some graphic language; sexual content that fades to black or the act is not described in great detail. We will not accept stories depicting graphic acts, be it of violent or sexual nature. (On-screen: This includes anything that is depicted as happening to the character in a written scene.)
- Supernatural/Occult - Supernatural and occult would include wizards, witches, vampires, werewolves, etc. We do not accept any of these at this time.
- Religion/Politics - We will not accept books with religious or political themes. While we do understand these can be hot topics, we will not allow any debating of these matters on our profile and we will not promote books featuring these matters.
If you think your story has what it takes, submit your story to our Reading Lists through our Submission Form. Just open the link in your browser and complete the questions. Once everything is filled out, press submit (only once) and that's it.
Please, note that:
>> any submission attempts made on our message board, in the comment section, or via PM will not be considered and will be deleted.
>> submission does not guarantee you a spot in our reading lists. All submissions undergo a level of screening before a decision is made. This is to ensure our readers get quality stories for their reading pleasure.
>> your story can only be added to one Reading List on our profile so as to keep space open for other stories. With that being said, please carefully consider the options when deciding which list to submit your story to.
>> stories that have previously been declined may be resubmitted only if any problems have been fixed.
Please be patient after a submission is made. As you can imagine, our list is long. We will notify you if your submission is declined or accepted. If your story is declined, we will also include our reason as to why.
