Hey, y'all.

I have been gone for a significant amount of time. I don't even know if anyone will remember me or the War Songs of the Courts series, but I need feedback.

I stopped writing because I was incredibly torn. The main character is bisexual. I made her bisexual because I am bisexual but at the time I hadn't told anyone in fear of not being believed. In writing her character, I made a lot of mistakes that I regretted immediately after finishing the first book. She has no real romances with women. Both of the romantic interests are men and I feel really uncomfortable with that while depicting her as bisexual. If I continue writing this book (which I've tried countless times but just can't manage to do it while I haven't fixed this), I need to either change one of the romantic interests to a woman or make her straight.

I need feedback. Please let me know if you're even still interested in this series. And if you are, would you be upset if I changed the first book so I could continue with a clear conscience?

@vidhia11 Thank you! I hear you and I really appreciate it. For me personally, I want to do this right and I just can't deal with men being her only romantic interests. But I think I've actually figured something out that will make this a better representation without having to rewrite the first book too significantly. Idk how I'll do it or fit it into the structure of the book yet since I literally just thought of it but I feel significantly better about this.

@AuroraEScott Hi your not contributing to bi stereotypes because every person is different and she might just only date guys or only girls just like @weirdoherelol said

Hi,

I just finished reading your book and really enjoyed it…i am looking forward to how the rest of the series would go…

I see you posted asking how we felt about her sexuality, honestly I think in book one, she’s just trying to survive and navigate this new world - I like that she’s not in any serious courtship, because her character is used to doing things alone, and opening up slowly to new possibilities…I think if she got into any entanglements, it will take away her focus from surviving what she’s been thrust into…

If you would like to do a rewrite, please do, this is your platform and your voice…just don’t stop writing, you have an interesting imagination, and I hope you continue to use it…

          Good luck…

Hi :) I just finished reading your first book and I really enjoyed it. I hopped onto your conversation board as I wanted to share how much I love Echo's character and your writing. Her mischievous personality gave me a lot of smiles and laughs...it really helped me get over my day-to-day tediousness. I really hope you continue with your second book. No pressure on my end, honestly. I am saying that to reiterate how much I really enjoyed reading this story and look forward to continuing the journey with you. I haven't started on the second book but plan to after writing this :)

On your concern with Echo's lack of female romantic interests since her bisexuality has been laid out in the first book, I think this can be further explored in your second book? Yes, her initial romantic interests are men but romantic interests change after all. We may start with a spark then realize that the person isn't really who we thought they were, we lose interest, we meet someone new, we change or we make choices based on the circumstances we find ourselves in. From a reader's perspective, I could say that it was simply from a lack of opportunity for Echo since no one female really captured her attention long enough for it to become more serious plus she's dealing with a lot of other things going on at the time but this doesn't have to be the status quo. I guess what I am trying to say is depending on how you want the plot to move forward, it doesn't necessarily mean a complete rewrite is needed? Things can change and develop moving forward. Naturally, if you feel strongly about doing a rewrite, then of course you have to do what you feel is right :) Either way, thank you for the time and effort you dedicated to creating this story. It really was an enjoyable read for me and I plan to stick around to see how the journey continues. Hope my feedback helps and wishing you all the best!

@immaninjareader I never thought my writing would be that for someone. I can't explain how much that means to me. Thank you for giving it a chance. I hope you enjoy her journey as I continue to write. :) And I definitely will be continuing!

Unfortunately, I am going to rewrite the first book. But not for what I thought. The writing isn't exactly where I'd like it to be. Since I'm going to rewrite a lot of it anyway, I might as well change a few things. & I won't give much away but more of Echo's sexuality will be explored as well. <3
