I guess you could say I was born to fear. I've been afraid of so much in my life and rarely experience moments free from it's icy grasp. Call it anxiety, resistance, a comfort zone, a prehistoric survival mechanism, or by any other name. There are seasons of my life in which I can write, but still more others when I cannot. This is not a creative space for me to share work-in-progress. These are the short gasps of air before my head drops back under the waves of failure: perceived, projected, or prophesied. What is written here is the legacy of a decades battle with an inner demon that has shaped me more than any other single force on this planet, excepting love. Love is not an emotion, not a chance encounter, it is without a tinge of sexuality. Love is the balancing force in this universe that keeps fear from the finishing the job it started on the day of my birth. It hinders, but does not prevent the work of fear in my life. And for that, during times such as these, I write.
