ON BREAK, CYA!

Great, so I was hoping to finish the Horror + Paranormal tomorrow, but somebody had messed with my PC, me attempting to fix it has made it worse in the process and questionably operable and inoperable at the same time. I had to use my laptop, but even that relic can only last so long hanging on its last optic fibre. I will still try to finish and publish by 9 July. If not, then by the end of July.

          	Why the end of July?

I will be overseas from 10 July - 25 July. I may not have solid internet connection, and my time there would be spent having fun without screens and riding buffalos.

I will NOT be able to respond promptly on any platform you contact me through, so please, patiently wait until I come back!

          	For now, thank you!

@JoelleSC Tenth and eleventh checks are good when it comes to luggage. I read To Kill A Mockingbird when I was in high school, but not since then. I think I was too young to truly appreciate it. Work is fine! I get a lot of downtime to write, so I cannot complain.

I hope you’re traveling safely, my friend. Enjoy the vacation, it’s well-deserved!

@aksrsen A few sneezes here and there. I'd be at the airport in about eight hours or so. So I'm really just doing a last minute tenth check on the luggage and started on reading To Kill A Mockingbird in my spare time. Have you read that? Glad to know your next chapter's coming and that you're surviving! Hopefully work wasn't too gruelling on you lol

@JoelleSC We’re surviving! At work at the present moment, but the next chapter’s in the works. How about yourself? Doing well, I hope?

NEW AUTHORS! DYSTOPIAN & FANTASY!

I just recently read a wonderful dystopian I believe needs a LOT more love, and that's @aksrsen 's post-apocalyptic world called "Dead Sun Rising." There's only three chapters so far (and I've yet to read the third) and I'm already obsessed within the first chapter. It has no shortage of a little gore, cosmic horror, molecular mutation, and what I can only as parasitic disease later one, following two sisters living out this last society. If this had been a paperback, I'd have bought it INSTANTLY.

Next, we have another aspiring author learning the ropes of writing and looking for feedback and improvement, @DaniellePainter4 has a fantasy book brewing with elemental spirits! I've managed to skim this a little and plan to review this one in August or a month after. For now, they're in need of advice!

Thanks for reading this short shoutout! Both of them have just recently joined Wattpad this June and are looking for dedicated readers! Give 'em votes, a read, or a simple welcome to Wattpad!

@aksrsen It's the least I can do! Hopefully the announcement had someway somehow managed to redirect people to read your story. It really is a wonderful!

Wow! I did not expect to wake up this morning to a glowing review from another artist I deeply respect. Thank you so much for your kind words. ❤️ I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you going out of your way to promote my work.

Thank you so much for telling me, I’m very gullible, and have to nice of a heart to say no to people (or at least that what I’ve heard people say to me) so thank you so much for looking out for me.

DaniellePainter4

@JoelleSC that would be amazing thank you

@DaniellePainter4 If you'd like, I could give your story a read and do up a review after collating the ones I need to finish, or perhaps a shoutout for you and a couple authors if you need readers and advice?

I’m good, plus I’m almost done with chapter 8 some parts of me are saying my story is too dramatic but the other half is saying it all good. But anyway thanks for asking :)

PSA on Scam-Spams

For those who can already tell what's NOT a legit offer of "turn your story into a comic" or "help edit your chapters," good on you!

Those who can't or don't know:

Please be aware there is a surge of throwaway accounts combing through stories, spamming their long-winded message of how much they like it, and end it with a beg to commission them for anything. Unless they have a credible portfolio and veritable presence, do NOT give any personal details or give access to your documents. I've already seen more than a few authors who have engaged in thanking them and agreeing to contact. I myself have been Discord DM'ed by two "freelance editors." At least one of whom is legit but I'm stingy of my belongings. The other who's business and supporting testimonials are sketchy and asked for my google documents on one of my stories. Another so-called "illustrator" had the gall to provide their Instagram profile. Guess what it is? Illustrated (famous) comic works... created by other artists — google reverse imaging will do you good too.

There is no telling what they'll do TO you, much less FOR you.

Commercial activities outside Wattpad programs are a violation.

The best these scam-spams have done is a lil' bump in engagement. So do have fun when you reply to them lol

@JoelleSC I replied you in the comment but I don't know how it ended up posting in your timeline but thank you so much for taking your time to explain me and make me understand each and everything.
I'm so pissed with these people, who do these scams. Can't believe they don't want to leave at least one platform in rest.

@peachjikook7 I forgot to add; in case you do get hijacked, unplug Ethernet or WiFi (most malwares require to connect to a server to transfer data) > check your Task Manager and look for anything you don't recognise or is sus in Processes. Locate it and delete it. > run scans, and if there's anything, force your Virus Killer (whichever app you use that protects you from digital virus) to clean up your PC/Laptop > restart device > monitor the system for a couple days

JoelleSC

@Cool05guy2000 Huh, never knew that. Giving it a second listen and connecting to what you mentioned, I can only attempt to understand --- since I don't know the full story

Cool05guy2000

@Cool05guy2000 to be honest, it sounded tragic. The way that the snow drake amalgamate is the mother of that snow drake enemy, and this distorted music sounded like she is trying and failing to remember her former life of her home

JoelleSC

@Cool05guy2000 Ooooh, a little creepy there. Might actually do good if I add this to a playlist to help write gothic/horror stories. I haven't played much of Undertale tho. I'm assuming you do lol

I'm gonna go feral

I just finished watching Castlevania: Nocturne and I couldn't get over it, so I really wanna do an og fanfic inspired by it but then copyright issues (obviously) so I'm changing content and things BUT THEN I thought "OH MY GOD! IDEA!" I was so excited about it! I went straight into making a planning template to jot down small-issue worldbuilding and spitballing ideas in bullet points!

          But then...

...I have to put a pause on "Mr. Big Banana" soon (I'll make a note about it after the next chapter release) so I can focus on a Contemporary offline to completion.

So that means one's down, Contemp's working, OBELISK can be put on pause for whenever I feel like wanting to write, I've started planning other works but put it aside for now but I also want to make time for the vampire story and just— UGHHH. I also have these other stories work-in-progress or a few of the stories like Raptor's Don't Rest (DDD's sequel) is still in planning stages, and all these dozens of ideas I don't know where to focus on! :(

Rant aside, kinda need affirmation to any author out there who could answer or give an opinion: Can I or can I not work on the vampire story too next to my Contemporary? How do you guys deal with this? Do you work on everything at once?

JoelleSC

@Queen_of_life_Heba , @HLMonroeAuthor Followed your advice, it's definitely helped a bunch to kinda "feed" my excitement over the story and expand the details that need be. I've just done a little outlining on the Prologue so far and right going back and forth between my Contemporary and the vampire fic. Thank you!
Reply

HLMonroeAuthor

I have the same issues where I get excited about a new idea and dive into that instead of finishing what I started. What I do to combat it is create a template for my new story and write down all the details that I was brewing then focus on writing 1-2 chapters for my current story so it stays up to date before allowing myself to write a chapter for the new one
Reply

Queen_of_life_Heba

@JoelleSC You can totally do it! Just remember to schedule it properly so that you don't stress yourself. Plotting extensively also helps a bunch :-)
