MAlice is a dynamic journal featuring the best of the Original English Light Novel (OELN) scene. For those unfamiliar with the term, a Light Novel is an episodic, Japanese short story format generally oriented toward a youth audience. Most feature graphic novel style character designs and scene illustrations.

Light Novels (LN) have strong ties to Japanese visual culture--anime, manga and video games--and many popular LN often borrow story and character elements from these formats. Many Light Novels have been adapted into Anime such as Sword Art Online (SAO), Black Bullet, Shiki and BoogiePop. 

Inspired by the booming and accessible Light Novel format, English language authors have created works that capture the sparse, poetic prose, easy readability and anime-like clash of genres that characterize LN as a distinct format. Our job is to feature only the best Original English Light Novels and spread this iconoclastic take on storytelling to the New World.
