lol hi
sorry this is the first you're hearing from me in a while, but i'm just hopping on to notify everyone that I'm unpublishing all of my original works in light of Wattpad's acquisition by Naver. it's been said that all content on the site will be owned by the company rather than by the writer, so I'm just playing it safe. if you'd like to read any of my original stories that were previously hosted here, I'm going to try and find a place to cross-post them, so feel free to DM me if you'd like access.

@BrightnessWings19 Ah, seems so -- one of my friends suggested that I just be careful until the whole acquisition goes through and terms are finalized. Thank you for researching this, though!!!

@MoonlightDragon so I think everything is okay, cuz I was looking at Webtoon (since Naver also owns Webtoon) and found the following:

this from the terms of use

"The Service is owned and operated by the Company, and Digital Content is licensed by the copyright owner to the Company.... All Digital Content and the Service, including intellectual property rights herein and thereto, are the property of the Company or its subsidiaries or affiliated companies and/or third-party licensors."

and this from the help center

"When you publish on Canvas, you will always keep ownership over your work. We want to help you get discovered! You’re always welcome to use as many platforms as possible and continue to promote your work on social media while utilizing the tools we offer."

I'm confused about the second sentence in the terms of use excerpt cuz it seems like a contradiction of the first, but every other source I've found says it's the same as Wattpad: you still own your stuff, but by posting something you give them a license to distribute it through their platform

            so I think it's fine??
