I am a freelance English to Spanish translator working in Gran Canaria (Spain). My special areas is the literary translation of science fiction, fantasy and horror stories. I have a vivid imagination, so this field suits me because it requires large doses of creativity and capacity for fantasy. Such skills are often put to the test when it comes to creating new terms, producing new rimes from scratch and other such demanding linguistic issues. However, I like this kind of challenges. Being creativity and imagination are also useful when translators have to mimic the original author´s writing style in their own mother tonge.
I am constantly looking at ways to further upgrade the quality of my translations, and work, therefore, not only on my active foreign language but also on my native language. That is why I not only make recourse to dictionaries such as the Royal Academy's or María Moliner, but am also constantly on the lookout for new phrases and collocations or newly-coined terms to incorporate them into my active stock for later use. I have set high standards for my work and this helps me to achieve them.
