So, a thought came to me in class the other day, and i've since expanded it. I've decided to share it, mainly because I'm curious about everyone's responses to it.

When they write, an author knows what they are saying - relating to plots and ideas. In the end, a good author knows all the details of their story - or have an complex image of it.

Sure, an author could bullshit their way through a couple scenes that make sense, but that's when they're still vague in their own knowledge about a topic - such as about their depths of undertanding regarding legalities or medicational occupations. You need at least a basic understanding of both these topics (and others) to write about them.

Do you think a basic understanding is needed to write these scenes? Or should an author go beyond basic, into a bit more depth of their own understanding? How much understanding does a writer need to accuratly write these scenes? Or would the bare minimum count, and bullshitting do the rest?

Anyway, this moves onto my next point of thought.

Since authors already know what needs to be in their own writing, it leads to the level of detail they need to incorperate. An author knows EVERYTHING about the specific scene or plot they are creating.

They know the characters, the events, settings and so on. They don't need to know everything about the world - they only reveal a small portion of it. But the parts they do show, already specified, are known to the author. Basically, the writer knows all these details - whether this is before, during or after writing. Authors, writers, know these details, and so the level of detail within the writing is important.

It needs to be acknowledged that the readers are not the writers. Hence, in this way, the readers don't know everything like the authors. They are left with only what has been written to imagine the world - or concept - being created.

@Supergirl8666 This is a very interesting topic. In my opinion, it depends how important the scene is to the book and how important the book is to the author. The more important the scene the more the author should know about the topic. The more important the book, the more the author should know about the topics in the book.

The level of detail that someone likes could be completely different to what someone else likes. So you can't cater to everyone. But what to you do? In my opinion asking your audience a simple question or two about the level of detail and what they liked/disliked about the chapter. Then you can learn what your audience likes. Don't change your style of writing for your audience though! Your personal flair is why people read your books.

As you said, the author knows everything that happens in all of the scenes in their story. I think the sign of a good author is an author who gets that knowledge of the scene across to the reader in an immersive and interesting way.

Hey all,

First thing, yes, I am alive. Second, yes, I am still writing. I'll always write, and that won't change. If I'm not writing my plots by hand or typing them down, the scenes themselves will be forming within my mind. So, even if i'm not actually writing things themself, the ideas for them are still expanding. And i'll get to updating the fanfics sometime - but i don't precisely know when.

I need to work on my time management skills.

I'm in university - I mentioned it in my last message. Last semester I was doing a University Preperation Course, which i passed, but I was going flat out in the last weeks. Since passing, I've gotten into the Bachelor of Arts course (my major is Creative and Professional Writing). So, i'm doing that and am trying to figure out how to organise my time so I can do my units, do fanfic writing and whatever else i need to do without burning out.

I should mention that i've not actually been logged onto Wattpad since May sometime. I've kept forgetting to log in, or just when I was about to, I realised how close an assignment was to being due. I might have been procrastinating a little too. So, on that note, do know that even if i'm not signed in, I still read everyone's comments (through my email).

No matter the type of comment it is, they always give me a new drive. It's inspirational, and reminds me to keep going even when times are hard. So, I enjoy reading all the comments no matter how often they come through. I'll try to get around to responding to all of those that I should have replied to before now, but I won't say in which timeframe that will be. Just, hopefully, before the year is out. I do plan to keep working on, and updating, the fanfictions I have published too. Again, I won't promise any particular time, just that i'll do it when i get the chance.

          Anyone have questions? Or responses?

          I hope you're all well.

Stay strong and beleive in yourselves.

          Amber (Supergirl8666)

@TheWolf0915 being a hypocrite is fun indeed. Gives you a feeling of superiority that half a second of intelligent thinking will easily shatter, so Ofc you don’t think intelligently. XD

Hey everyone.

First up, yes, I am alive. Second, yes, I am still writing.

Now that I’m sure I’ve got two of the most important questions out of the way, I’m going into why I have yet to update in several months, and which books I am working on when I get the chance. And if you want to read my full message, this notification will go on for 3 parts (this and two more bellow).

          1)
Since the start of this year sometime, I enrolled into university. If I’m recalling correctly, my classes started late February or early March. I’m currently doing a preparation course to make sure I do get into Uni, since I’m focused on getting into an undergraduate course. Specifically, I’m looking at the Bachelor of Arts, and am wanting to Major in Creative and Professional Writing.

So basically, I’m in the middle of doing units, meaning I’m doing work for them. So, hence my working on those units and not having as much time to write creatively. In fact, it’s actually been at least a week since I managed to sit down and write for any of my stories, which is more than a week too long.

But since I’m currently up to date on all my work, though I do plan to work ahead in assignments, it means I WILL be able to do some writing over at least this coming week; something I’ve been desperately wanting to do.

@Fintan2ademigodhuffl Thank you. All the same, i do want to get a chapter out sometime. Hopefully without time getting away from me again.

Hi, I absolutely LOVE your book Universal Legend. I am so sad to see that you have not updated in so long. I completely understand that you have a life and are busy with other books. But can you give us a timeframe of when the next chapter will be out? Totally ok if not for a while, but I just want to know if you are going to finish the book. By the Way, You are such a good author! I absolutely Love all of your books. You are definitely a great writer. Keep going!

Supergirl8666

@MochaFrappuccino21 Apologies for such a late response, and thank you for the message.

I am still working on The Universal Legend. It's actually my favourite fanfiction that i'm in the process of writing, and there's no way i'll be dropping it. Truthfully, i don't know when the next chapter will be out, but from memory, i did draft the next chapter i planned to publish. I need to rewrite that (and reread the other chapters first). So, i'll get it out when i can, and hopefully it's sooner than later.

            And thank you very much.

Happy New Year Everyone. I hope you are all having great Holidays.

This is AWST (or Australian Western Standard Time), and I know it's at least half a day ahead of out of you - if not longer - but it's midnight for me.

          Have a good New Year's

Supergirl8666

To those who celebrate it, Merry Christmas. I hope you have all had, or are having, a great day.

Supergirl8666

Hello everyone.

I just published chapter 3, the rewrite, of The Universal Legend. if you are reading that, feel free to check it out whenever you have the time.

I didn't have the time to do it today, so I plan to edit chapters 1 and 2 of that fanfic tomorrow.

Then, to the long await of many of you, I plan to work on the next chapter of The Invisible Assassin.

Fintan2ademigodhuffl

@Supergirl8666 I did all the PJO ones and the HP one and all the one shots and the hobbit one.

@aamboeu Okay. I'm sure you'll be glad to know I've been working on the next chapter for Invisible Assassin. It still has some to go, but I've written at least 2/3 of it.

Yes, I’m still working on the third chapter. It’s become longer than I thought, at least with this scene. It out before the end of November. It’s currently at 16,000 words - yes, that amount. This covers the first idea of what was planned, but it’s now too long to add the next two ideas.

So, other than the fact it should be out within the next week, I have another reason to send this message.

As you would know, or have seen, Percy has been acquiring several identities. The most known is the alias Zale Asim. There will another major identity he will go by. Originally, this identity would be Omega (which would be the assassin codename). Now, I’ve decided I want to change it.

Any ideas for the new codename?

I won’t be introducing this until after chapter 30, but the groundwork must to begin. I don’t want to introduce this without leading into it. That’s not how I write now. I’ve learnt things the past five years that I’m putting to practice.

          For some information:
          - I don’t know the name he’ll go by out in the universe, or the codename yet.
          - He will be taller than Zale (who is taller than Percy due to the blessings about appearance)
          - Will be near the same age as Zale and Percy, and will have abilities of his own.
          - His background is quite hidden, and no one knows it. He’ll be a nameless individual, but will become quite known throughout the universe - not because he will be an assassin. His known name will be what people know. Sometime within the course of the first book, it will be revealed he has been studying behaviours and psychology, and that his skills don’t just end in these departments.
          - Like Zale, he will have abilities and though this will give away some plot, my plan is for him to have shadow abilities.
          - There is magic. Percy will be good at all magic, Zale at defensive magics, and the other at offensive.

That is all I can think of, and I'm looking forward to your relies.

          Stay safe everyone.

            1) Electus (Chosen; seeing as he was the chosen one in multiple prophecies)
            2) Abditum ( to conceal; since these names are to conceal his identity)
            3) Novus (new; because he is creating a new start for himself)

@Supergirl8666 Two ideas for the name-

Where did I first introduce Chaotic metal and weapons again? I know it was after Percy ventured out into the universe, but I can't quite recall when it was.

Was it mentioned by Tom in conversation, or was it knowledge Percy/Zale picked up? Was it when he was first in his identity, or after the Pendorgate fiasco - or during it?

I can't remember, and I don't want to break off from where I am currently writing to spend however long looking for the answer. I decided I'd ask you all first, and see if you know. If not, I'll need to look though what I've written, and that might take a while.

Supergirl8666

@InfernoStrike42 Okay, thank you for replying.

I think the first mention of the metal is chapter 15( think it’s that one) during the fight with the pendorgate, where he first says that only chaotic metal can harm it, and then the army person gives him the sword, and there’s the whole they don’t give their swords to anyone? I don’t think it’s mentioned before that

And yes, I'm about halfway through the 3rd chapter for the rewrite, but it's taking longer to write. I'll get it out before the month is up though, but hopefully it's more than 1 chapter. I want at least 2 or three each month until I'm back to where I left off.
