Well… I’ve been seeing a lot of people here talk about stories getting removed by Wattpad, and I always thought that it would never happen to me. Unfortunately, I was wrong. As some of you may have noticed Brooklyn’s New life has been deleted because it “broke community guidelines”. This seems to be the growing trend with this platform, unfortunately. With the ever increasing number of ads and the crackdown and deletion of content that has existed on the platform for years, I’m not sure I can see my time on Wattpad continuing very much longer. Wattpad is no longer a place where one can express themselves and the corporate culture is not only evident but sucking the life out of the app. I am thankful for the good years I had on Wattpad as it has helped me through a lot, but this is getting ridiculous. If you know of any similar apps, that are safe, free, and closer to what Wattpad used to be, please let me know. Thankfully I have backups of my stories so if I am able to find a New Haven I will repost there.

@darkshadow75 I agree with you. They use a broad claim with no support or verification of what actually is supposed to be in violation.

Many are moving over to AO3 (ArchiveOfOurOwn) and then posting a link here to their stories on there.

I know I’m going on a bit of rant here, but the least the could have done is taken the story off public and put a note saying what was wrong with it, rather than deleting it entirely. I have appealed the decision but from what I’ve read from others in similar situations, nothing will be done. The policing system on Wattoad is awful and needs to change.

Controversial Statement

I’m not going to lie for the most part I had given up and lacked interest to continue or edit any of my stories until recently. But after spending 9 of the last hours working on one paper, I don’t think it’s in the cards today. Maybe in the next few weeks, when I can find time between work and school.
