There's a very real God who sent His son to die for you specifically. The God of the whole UNIVERSE thought of you specifically when He died for you. God has an entire BOOK He wrote about each of us in heaven. He made it before we were even born. Everything He wants us to accomplish here on earth. It's up to us to seek Him to learn what's in the book. 

Psalm 139:16-18 says - Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand.

Think about that. Think about every single grain of sand in the world. It would be impossible to count, right? God has more thoughts about you everyday than the number of grains of sand in the whole world! He loves you that much! I promise you, if you read the Bible and learn what God says about you, your life would never be the same. God isn't mad at you. He cherishes you. He desperately wants you to seek Him when you're going through hardship so He can help you. 

He says you are worthy. 
He says you have value. 
He says you are clean. 
He says you are beautiful and wonderfully made. 

If anyone has told you different, they are wrong. I'm so sorry if someone who claimed to be a Christian misrepresented Jesus to you. It happens far too often. At the end of the day, we have free will. It's up to us to believe in Him and live the way He'd want us to so we can accomplish everything He has in store for us. He wants you. Yes, YOU specifically. There is nothing that can separate you from the love of God.
