Nomi Chippendale is an accomplished screenwriter, born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. Currently, she lives in Los Angeles with her husband and baby daughter. After winning the prestigious Praxis Screenwriting award two years in a row in her early twenties, she wrote for season two on the hit Canadian t.v. show, Alienated (SPACE/SCI FI). Nomi then decided to move Los Angeles where she continued to write her own scripts but found she had a gift for adapting novels into screenplays.
In Nomi’s debut book series, Sugarbird, she channels her painful childhood experience of being bullied to create a chillingly realistic feel in this supernatural tweener book series. Nomi pays homage to the Nancy Drew novels she loved as a child; the main character, 12 year-old Nina Tapioca who has been bullied her entire life discovers that she has a magical gift and uses it to solve mysteries.
Sugarbird addresses the current bullying epidemic in such a way that it will not only outrage and inspire you but is also sure to touch your heart. You will find yourself rooting for awkward Nina Tapioca and excited to be swept away in her next adventure.
