Now let me show you the English language, folks. This is a real sentence.


"James while John had had had had had had had had had had had a better effect on the teacher."


There is no purpose for all of those "had's" and I am certain that the writer knew that and they just wanted to upset people by creating it that way. Now it is my job to make sure that you don't become that guy.


Use one had, please. It has the same effect, but it looks and sounds so much nicer.

Ex: Donald had had a cold Tuesday night.

Ex: Donald had a cold Tuesday night.


You see, it's just that simple. Don't make it harder than it has to be. Use one had.
