Chloe's P.O.V

I take a sip of my iced latte letting the refreshing feeling trickle down my throat. I pay little attention to what my friends are saying as I stare at the cloudy sky and light raindrops falling and gliding down the window.

Whenever I'm not occupied with anything I find myself drifting to thoughts of my next-door neighbour.

Ian is an interesting guy and I'm intrigued by him. My first impression of him was that he wanted to be anywhere else but there. It seems like he doesn't like socialising.

I want to get to know him better. I think we can be really good friends. We already have two things in common. We're both university students in our first year and we love art. Plus, we're neighbours now and our bedrooms are literally next to each other's, it would be hard to avoid one another.

I'm not the type of person to just ignore people without a good reason anyway.

Some things also concern me a little bit though about him. I'm not sure how trustworthy he is yet or honest. I mean we just met like 3 days ago, so I don't know him almost at all. He's definitely hiding things as well, but I mean everyone has their own secrets. It makes me wonder if one day he'll let me in because now the barrier he built looks like it's sky-high.

A hand snapping its fingers in front of my face brings me back to my friends.

"What?" I ask, taking a sip of my drink.

"You've been daydreaming for like 15 minutes," one of my guy best friends, Felix, tells me.

"Or maybe the view out the window was more interesting than whatever you guys were talking about," I say, smiling wide at him.

"You're the worst sometimes, you know that?" Felix says not being able to hide his smile.

"I know, I love you too," I say, turning and looking at my other friends as they shake their heads.

"Or maybe you were daydreaming about me!" Jacob says, my other good guy friend.

"Keep dreaming about that buddy," I say, shaking my head whilst laughing.

"Oh, I will, you never know, maybe one day it'll come true!" He winks at me.

"Maybe, maybe not. Anyways, I have to go, guys, I still have stuff to unbox," I say whilst standing up and grabbing my bag.

"Already?" Alice whines.

"Already," I say mimicking her tone, sending her a kiss as she groans.

"You didn't even tell us about your next-door neighbour! What was your first impression?" Sydney says whilst taking another bite of her ice cream.

"Is he good looking?" Elise asks me, jumping into the conversation quickly.

"He seems like a good guy and yes, he's good looking but no, he doesn't have green eyes," I say aiming the last bit at her by pointing my finger at her.

"Oh, come on," she groans as I leave them laughing, heading back to my place.

Elise has a fetish for green eyes, good looking men, and she's become quite frustrated lately cause she can't find one.

Thankfully, the small busy coffee shop is near my apartment and I don't have to brisk walk in the rain for long.

"Mum? Dad? I'm home," I yell through the apartment as I head towards their bedroom.

"Okay sweetie, did you have a good time?" Dad asks me.

"Yeah, it was fun! I'll go and finish unpacking," I say as I lean on their doorframe.
