Dear Mr. President
People are dying
There's violence on the streets
Noone can fall asleep
Nestled in their sheets
Schools are failing
But our kids are smarter
Than a lot of our adults
Noone knows our history
So they're bound to repeat it
People can't afford to live
Meanwhile Elon Musk
Wants to live in space
Maybe he's right
Maybe he's the only one able
To see
What the world has come to.
There's tension in the air
I am afraid of war
You're supposed to keep
Our country safe
Otherwise what are you for?
The election's coming up
There's someone I don't want to win
But if it's you versus him...
I'm glad I can't vote
I wouldn't know where to begin
We need someone new in office
A woman maybe,
Or a forty-or-fifty-something man
Someone to make me feel
Less afraid
The Mongol empire lasted
Less than a hundred and seventy years
What makes us think we'll stay around
Much longer than that?
I want you to do something
I want you to protect
The people of our country
The value of our country
And the country itself
It's the greatest in the world
But they're threatening to cast us aside
We just turn away and hide
Like an elf on the shelf
When January comes.
A/N: I think this is probably one of my best poems so far!! It literally gives me chills to read lol.
Also not me name-dropping Elon Musk!! Lol.
