(A/N: A word to the wise (alright you guys caught me; a few words):

Pretty much from here on out is purely based on scenes from the book, with descriptions from the movie. Most of this is based off of my memories of such, with some help from the Hunger Games wiki.

Also, reader isn't taking any bull in this chapter, not gonna lie. I enjoyed writing the dialogue scenes. Ha ha. But also, some emotion, not like "OH MY GOD I'M DYING SEND TISSUES AND CHOCOLATE 'BET YOU DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING' PAGE 250" emotion that makes me ball, but you might cry. I did a bit at one point while writing it, though.

I used a throwback to an earlier chapter; a quote between reader and another character, one I personally love. It's not something to catch, because it's more pointed out, but props if you skip this A/N and still recognize it. Ahh, don't ya just love a good reunion?

And it's uber long.  I went crazy. Hijacked, Longing, Rusted, past the Gone.

I'm going to stop torturing myself now.

At first, you're greeted with silence. And then a shout.

It sounds vaguely familiar, but it isn't until he's in front of you that you recognize the voice. Raine's hands are up, her gun on the floor, but you don't move, knife still clutched in hand. You're not sure whether it's because you're shocked at the situation, insane, or just because you know that Gale would never use the gun he's pointing at you.

As you suspected, as soon as he sees you, his arms relax and fall to his sides. The others beside him, two women who you don't recognize, follow his lead a little later upon realizing who you are. Raine awkwardly drops her hands and stoops to pick up her gun. She nods back out the door. "I'm going to get Paylor and Lance."

"Stay safe."

"Always," she grins, and then nudges you. "Go get him."

You bite your lip, fight the grin threatening to overtake your face. You want to be disapproving, but you can't. Instead, you do as she says—turn to Gale; walk right up to him.

"I thought you were dead," you scold.

"Well, I'm not."

"That's not the point."

Slowly, you lose your feigned scowl and it changes into a smile. "Whatever. I guess you're right," you concede fondly, decidedly going in for a hug, "you're not allowed to die."

As much as you want something to happen, instead of just him staring down at you in the middle of the hug, smiling like an idiot, you're not sure how comfortable you feel being watched like a piece of prey by the other two women in the room. So when there's another shout, another interruption, you feel slight relief—but also an overwhelming sense of disappointment as well.

"(Y/n)!"

Alright, and some joy at seeing that obnoxiously charming, "but he's nice when you get to know him" golden boy from District 4.

"Finnick!"

Somewhat reluctantly, you pull away from Gale and turn to greet Finnick, only to be caught off guard and somewhat surprised when he wraps you a quick, tight embrace. Before you can react, he's already retracted.

"Told you I'd see you later," you remind him cheekily, referring to the conversation the two of you had before the Star Squad left. Finnick just shakes his head in amusement at your antics.
