Ties

Tides that washed me away
Away from the ties I made
Away from the people I called home
Leaving behind a trail of thread

I have been tangled in my ties

A friend I thought was present
One I met as the tide hit the shore,
Before sweeping me back into its midst
Deep breaths as I breathe the air that was taken out of me

Words that worked as punches
Waves that sheltered me away from people
Sweeping me away when ties were made
Sending me off to a place with new strands

I had my conscience taken

I became a man entangled with threads from all around
Not one that tugs me back home

None that were used
I was left with strands many deserted
