So...
What to unravel first, let's see...we have the fact that I'm officially a werewolf, I'm mates (short for soulmates) with Alexandria, the whole 'wolf pack' friend group is literally a pack of werewolves, and that there has really been a supernatural world right under our noise the entire time! Oh, also my aunt is a full on psychic witch, but I kinda guessed that from the beginning. She does own a witchcraft shop afterall. I'm just a baby witch in my practice but that's not relevant right now-
I'm honestly having a hard time, still, comprehending this all. Like- seriously, what kind of supernatural romance story am I living in?!
Anyway, I guess I should probably explain what went down once the wolf pack got here. So basically this is what happened:
Car by car, everyone starts arriving. They all quickly enter my household with me greeting them at the door, leading the whole pack into the living room. They keep asking me if I'm alright or what seems to be the problem, all on edge. I politely dismiss their worries, pacing rather anxiously until everyone arrives. By then I still hadn't figured out what to say, so instead I decided to simply show the video of me shifting last night, and just...go from there. Stupid plan really, but I couldn't think of anything better.
Everyone crowded around me, Lane on one side, Charlie on the other, and Alexandria sitting behind me with the rest of the pack squeezing closer to see the small screen of the tape recorder. It's silent as I skip ahead to when I start shifting. No one speaks during, or even after. Everyone is just...dead silent. It was kinda scary, and I was getting quite anxious. Alexandria must've noticed, or at least heard my accelerated heart rate, because she began to rub her hands up and down my arms soothingly, resting her head on my shoulder. A rumble came from her chest, and I found myself at ease once more.
It was then that she spoke, murmuring an apology to me, that she was sorry they didn't tell me sooner. Everyone else followed soon after, looking guilty as they spoke. When I asked why they didn't tell me, their answer was that they didn't know how to tell me. Once it was out, my life was going to be different, forever. They wanted to give me a few more days of a normal life before they finally told me. In the end I understood why, because it was a lot to unpack.
From there, they began to explain- everything. Briefly, that is. They told me that my 'dreams' are really my wolf going through the phases of their first shift. After a few more days these midnight strolls of mine will stop and my wolf will be settled within me and I'll have control on when and where I shift. Same goes for my senses. Shifting itself will become easier overtime as well, much smoother and less painful. When I asked about my clothes, Alexandria was rather embarrassed. Turns out Charlie helped redress me every night after I shifted back into my human form. Poor Alex would go running away with the rest of the pack the minute I started to unshift. Lane helped replace the torn clothes.
As the conversation went on, and we talked about the pack itself and of the ranks (which they kinda do have those. The pack is more of just a group of werewolves that stick together, with someone in charge, or in their terms 'the alpha'. Within the group, Alexandria acts as the alpha), I finally asked about the 'mate' thing my Aunt Azura had mentioned once during dinner. Again, the room fell silent and Alexandria was forced to speak up; she admitted that mates were a thing amongst werewolves. Soulmates do exist, but only creatures of the supernatural are able to sense their soulmates. Alexandria...she's my soulmate. That's why I'm always so comfortable around her, so at ease. So far she's the only one in the pack that has found their soulmate.
The topic of my attack was brought up eventually, where I then learned about rogue werewolves; rogues are werewolves who've remained in their wolf forms for too long, losing their humanity and going feral. You can tell the difference between a rogue werewolf and a normal one by their eyes. Rogues have red eyes, which makes sense to what my aunt said at our first dinner together. A lot of what she's said to me makes sense now. Sorta. In a special way.
But...yeah. I'm a werewolf now. Apart of the pack, they all reminded me. And the pack is a family, and always looks out for each other. It honestly made me smile, and feel rather relieved. So...maybe being a werewolf won't be so bad. And once I get this whole werewolf thing under control, I'll tell my dad about it. Maybe Robin if my dad thinks he'll be able to keep quiet about it (another unspoken rule among werewolves; we have to stay hidden).
Well, I think that's all I'm going to write down for today. Alex and I are going out later, so I'm going to start getting ready. And tomorrow the whole pack is going out. Think they're going to help me try and control my shift, and if all goes well, we'll all do one big pack run. Sounds like a lot of fun in honesty.
Flipping through some of my previous entries, it's hard to believe that any of this is real. It sounds like something straight out of a teen romance novel. Hey, maybe I could turn this into an actual book one day? Or a graphic novel? Now that would be awesome, a graphic novel following the journal entries of some person. Change a few names and- boom. You got a book. Well, maybe not. I have way too many drafts and other books I need to get to before that. And I don't have a shred of artistic ability to draw a graphic novel.
Anyways, that's all for now journal. I'll write in you later.
