Chris's POV

"This was nice. I was glad we got to have a date night." I smiled over at my wife. We were currently on our way home from dinner. It was something needed and got me back to feeling like myself again.

"It was nice." Sabrina agreed.

We got home and I noticed that Cassidee's car was gone from the driveway. She probably ran to the store or something. We got out of the car and walked through the front door, Mason sitting on the couch watching tv.

"Hey." I greeted taking off my coat.

"Hey, how was dinner?" He asked.

"It was nice. Where's your sister?" Sabrina asked.

"Oh, she went to Camilla's." He said getting up from the couch.

"It's almost nine. You think she'd be back home by now." I glanced over at the clock on the stove. "She tell you what time she'd be back?"

"No," Mason replied getting a soda from the fridge.

I was getting some weird vibes from my son. Something doesn't seem right here.

I picked up my phone and called Cassidee's number. It rang about four times and then went straight to her voicemail. Odd she never lets my calls go to voicemail.

"Hey, it's Cassidee, leave your number and I'll call you back."

"Cass, it's your dad. Mason said you went to Camilla's and I'm only calling because it's nine at night and you're never usually out this late, especially with Bryson. Just give me a callback." I hung up and sighed, placing my phone on the counter and looked at Mason. "Did your sister tell you anything else before she left?"

"Nope." Mason avoided looking at me and took his soda, going upstairs to his room.

"Cassidee and Camilla are probably watching a movie," Sabrina said. "Don't get yourself all worried." She smiled patting my shoulder.

"Yeah." I nodded my head and sat down on the couch.

"Cassidee, it's three o clock in the morning and you're still not home. If I don't hear from you in twenty minutes I'm calling the police to look for you." I hung up my phone and sighed looking around the darkened living room.

Hours had gone by now and still, I heard not a single word from Cassidee. I was honestly starting to get scared. If she went to Camilla's as Mason told me she did, Cassidee would've called by now. I understand that we haven't been seeing eye to eye lately with things, but it's no excuse for her to completely ignore my phone calls.

"Chris, will you come to bed? It's late." Sabrina yawned coming downstairs.

"I'm worried about her and Bryson. This isn't like her to be out this late at a friend's house." I replied.

"She could've very well fallen asleep. You got to understand these young girls are mothers, Chris." She explained taking a seat next to me.

"Young mother or not, something's going on with Cassidee."

My phone started going off and I saw Cassidee's name appear on my screen. I instantly picked up the phone.

"Cassidee? Where the hell are you?"

"I was sleeping until Bryson's teething woke me up." She groggily answered back. "I saw there were at least a dozen missed calls on my phone from you."

"Well leaving the house without telling me where you're going surely took a few years off my life."

"I'm a grown-ass adult and I told Mason where I was headed, did he not tell you? This is why I cannot live under the same roof as you! You're constantly in my business and you treat me like I'm six years old. When are you finally going to treat me like an adult?"

"You bring your ass home right now."

"No."

She hung up the phone and sighed out of frustration. I get that Cassidee is an adult but something is bothering her and it's taking a toll on mine and her relationship. I hate to see my kids when something is troubling them. I hate it, even more, when they won't tell me what exactly is troubling them. When it comes to Cassidee, I have a feeling it's something more than her pregnancy.

Cassidee's POV

I grabbed a teething ring from the freezer and walked back upstairs to the bedroom. Ian was sitting in a small chair with Bryson as he wailed and drooled all over himself due to his tooth coming in.

"Were you on the phone?" Ian asked as I handed over the frozen teething ring.

"My dad has been blowing my phone up all night. This is ridiculous." I said pushing a hand through my hair.

"Even I have to agree and say your dad has gone off the deep end."

"I can't take this anymore. I need to move out of my dad's so we're not constantly bickering with each other. I have two classes in the morning, as for my dad he's got a therapist appointment in the afternoon."

"What are you getting at?" Ian asked as Bryson was starting to settle down.

"Why don't I just grab my things and move out while he's out?"

"Have you lost your mind?"

"At this point, I have no idea where my mind is. But what I do know is that I'm not living with my dad anymore, I can't."

"And what about Mason and your stepmom being there?"

"That's where you come in. I'll take them out somewhere and I'll let you into the house and you can grab mine and the baby's things."

"How about no? Do you realize how stupid, not to mention how dangerous that is?" Ian freaked outputting Bryson back in his crib. "Say I go into the house while everyone's out, your dad comes home and I'm dead."

"Well, how else am I supposed to get my things?"

"Just tell them you're moving out. You found a place, nothing too expensive and all you need is your clothing, bathroom stuff, and Bryson's things. I don't want to be involved with this." Ian said walking out of Bryson's room and back to his.

"You should've thought about that before you got me pregnant for the second time," I replied following behind him.

"I'm sorry but who kissed me first in the kitchen? You did and you could've told me to stop once we got up to my room. I'm sick of you always blaming me for you getting pregnant." He said getting back under the covers.

"I would've said stop but knowing the type of person that you are I couldn't utter out a single word!"

"There you go again thinking I'm still this abusive monster! Cassidee, I told you that I changed and if you would've told me to stop or pushed me off I would've been fine. But we both let it continue, keyword is both."

"I'm sick of hiding this from my family. Why couldn't you have been a normal person and not hurt me and not have my entire family hate you?" I asked climbing into bed.

"I've told you countless times how sorry I was in the past. Why are you so afraid of your family finding out about me?" Ian asked turning, propping himself up on his elbow.

"Ian, they hate you and they'd never let you see Bryson or the new baby ever again. Most importantly, I've been lying to them about my whereabouts and I'll be confined to my room until I'm eighty."

"When that time comes, let me deal with them."

I swear Ian gets dumber and dumber about this each day.
