Chapter 5

"Slytherin!" The hat shouted.
There was a great hush over the hall.

Wait Slytherin? I thought to myself. But Harry is in Gryffindor and family are in the same houses, right?

I was worried. The whole Slytherin table erupted in clapping. They stood and looked at me. Draco was staring at me the whole time. Harry was also staring at me. I heard some more names called but I paid no attention to them.

After the last name was called I saw Professer Dumbledore stand up and say, "I know you would all like to eat so, tuck in!" As food appeared on the plates. I was grateful for the food. I was hungry all day, even though I had so many sweets from off the trolley.

I grabbed some chicken wings, mashed potatoes, and a lot of pasta salad. I scarfed it down quickly and went back for seconds and thirds. Before I could regret anything, I also had 4 pumpkin tarts. They were so good! The food here was already amazing. It was warm, but not hot. And delicious.
Draco looked at me like I was an alien.

"Didn't you eat on the train?" He asked worriedly.

"Yeff, bugh, I'm hungy mow." I said with my mouth stuffed to the brim with pumpkin tart.

"I can see that." Draco said with concern. "Just don't choke, please."

"Mowkay. I want." I said with food still in my mouth. I swallowed hastily and gulped at my pumpkin juice. It was also really good! Mr. Lupin told me about how great this place was but getting to experience this firsthand is incredibly amazing!

Draco and I exchanged amazed glances at each other and smiled. I heard Professer Dumbledore get up and clear his throat.

"Now, Quidditch tryouts are this Friday. Talk with your head of house or Quidditch captain about signing up. Mr Filch has asked me to remind you students that magic is not allowed in the hallways. Only third years and above are allowed into hogsmeade. Your prefects will show you your house rooms..." He continued but I wasn't paying any attention. I was looking at Harry. My brother. Harry Potter.

"... And that is all. Go sleep now!" Dumbledore finished. There was a shuffle of benches squeaking against he floor as the students got up. I walked with Draco behind a older boy. Sixth year maybe? I dunno. Maybe younger. We followed him down a long hallway to the dungeons. There was a picture of a snake with an apple that asked the boy for a password.

"Abraxas lavealio!" He said to the portrait.
We walked inside the common room and it was so pretty. It looked like it was underwater. Maybe under the black lake. It was mostly green with water glares along the walls.

I wondered why no one ever talked about how amazing it looked down there.

"Bed!" The male Slytherin prefect said to us. "We all have classes in the morning!"
There was a chorus of 'good nights' and 'see yous'. I said good night to Draco and went up the staircase to the girl's dorm. There were two other rooms before the room that said "first year female Slytherins" and named a few people. Millicent Bullstrode, and a few names I didn't recognize. I walked in and shut the door. There were four beds in the room. One closet beside each bed, for clothes. My trunk was on my bed along with Coal, my cat. He was being very quiet and calm. He seemed happy to see me as he jumped into my arms when I opened the door to his cage.

The bedspread had green snakes on them, with a silver background. There was the same design for the pillows. There were dark green drapes along the sides of the four-posters. I changed into some deep grey silk pajamas and lyed in bed with Coal lying on my stomach.

I curled up on my side and fell asleep. I was in a dark hallway and my head was pounding. I could barely see anything but I could make out one thing through the gloom. I saw the dark mark appear in the dark. I saw someone come to my rescue but I didn't get a good look. I woke almost immediately and it was still dark out. Millicent was beside my bed and asked if I was ok. I assured her that I was and she went back to bed.

I went back to sleep for a few hours and woke up at normal time. I got up, got dressed and brushed my hair. I went down to the great hall and ate some bacon for breakfast. I also ate some pancakes and bagels, too. I saw Draco come in the great hall and sit with me to eat breakfast.
