Despite being in bed all night, I definitely didn't feel rested in the slightest way. The two pieces of paper were on the bed in front of me. I've been watching them like this since morning.
I reach out and take the letter left behind after Claire. There was a wax seal on it like those from the movies used by royalty. The paper used to for the letter was slightly brown. I slowly broke the seal and opened it.
The letter read,
Dear Erica,
I am glad I got to meet you. I really wanted to thank you properly but I knew I would never get the chance so I wrote this letter not only to thank you but also to warn you.
Do not trust anyone anymore because your life is about to change into something you could only imagine.
Depending on how you live it, it might be of great benefits to you or detrimental in every thinkable way.
Once again, thank you for everything for giving me a life I always wanted.... for giving me family
....thank you.
Love,Claire.
I fold the letter and hold it tightly on my chest. I didn't really understand it because none of my dreams had ever had any real emotions.... or maybe that was just what I thought.
Despite being confused, my mind would not let go of the fact that there was another piece of paper lying on my bed.
I don't know why he gave me that or what made him come back and that piece of paper properly crumpled due to my lack of restraint was the only answer or clue that I had.
I pick it up slowly and lay it in both palms, examining it. The paper felt rough like it had gone through a lot before being tossed at me. I return the paper to a shape similar to it's original form and open it.
At first, there was nothing and then........everything went black. I could still feel my body but I couldn't move. Then, everything went white.
I felt like I was floating in a vast expanse of nothing but white in every direction.
Then I saw....or assumed I was seeing someone walking towards me. At least until I confirmed it was a humanoid figure.
But it stood there at a very far distance and started speaking....,
'Claire..' It's voice echoed into my mind. 'Daughter of the light,......' The voice would occasionally get smoother and more like a human and less of a resonating loudspeaker with full volume. '....warrior born from the depths of chaos, we call upon you , o seer of the unseen, save our worlds and our souls from the darkness that devours all..' I didn't really get any of it but I just listened not like I could do anything about it. '....SAVE US, PRINCESS CLAIRE.'
Everything went black once again and then I felt like I was being thrown away by a powerful unseen force. Of course I passed out from the intense pressure.
-----------------------
Waking up in a dense forest in your underwear and having no ideas where in the world you are can come as quite the shock.
The dirt was moist and almost cold. I sat up completely freaking out from the fact that I don't know how I got here.
The trees formed a canopy that prevented most of the light of the sun from reaching the ground. But one could still tell that it was totally early afternoon.
Small animals scurried pass as I picked myself from the ground. I stopped when I noticed something weird. Everything from the colour of the sunlight to the appearance of the tiny furry creatures that ran up and around the trees was different. Even the sounds from the birds around was clearly alien.
Taking deep breaths, I apply the little navigation knowledge I know and search for the sides of the trees with moss. Yes.....they did have moss but it was red. I shook my head and just pretended I was hallucinating from the shock of waking up a forest.
I head north barefoot with clearly no idea where I was headed. There was a gentle breeze that carried a hint of salt. It seems I wasn't all that far from the sea. I scamper as quickly as I can....half falling and half crawling till I saw the bright opening between trees. It was only till I fell flat on my face that I realized that there was a bright stone in my hand. I gave it ni concern and kept moving till I reached the beach.
The beach was filled with blue sand instead of the usual yellowish or brown one, whichever you're used to.
And there was a sea alright. Probably the only normal thing that looked as it should have back home. Yes I had concluded I had either been abducted by aliens or that I was dead or that I was in another world all together.
The waves threw foam into the air every time they crashed unto the sand and sometimes flung sand and small stones unto the land somehow making it seem like it was angry at the land for keeping it at bay.
I drop my exhausted body on the gritty sand as my knees fail to function. I didn't even know how far I had run to get to this beach. Now I just have to think of a way to find civilization so I can figure out how I got here and how I can get back home.
It was when I looked down at the blue sand in thought that I realized that the glowing stone in my hand was even brighter.
The stone was pitch black with strands of white and other colors evenly arranged at its center.
Then the colors gently blended into each other in a swirl which seemed to cone to life. The beautiful mixture of colors slowly started to emanate from the black stone like smoke.
The multicolored looking cloud slowly covered me from my feet to my head as tendrils of color crawled up my body.
When I was completely immersed in the turmoil of colors, I felt like I was floating with no regards for the mocking pull of the force discerned as gravity.
I closed my eyes and allowed the gentle feeling of floating to envelope me completely.
It came to an end sooner than I expected when the colors withdrew back into the rock and I felt my feet touching solid ground again.
The sun clawed at my raw exhausted eyes when I opened them again. I was in the middle of a town. To be precise I was on top of the tallest building in the middle of the market.
My feet started to tremble as I slowly tried to get down into a crawling position due to my fear of heights........and I slipped.
All I could feel was rushing air rebounding of my face as I plummeted head first for the ground. My eyes snap shut as my heart hammered at my rib cage out of sheer shock and fear.
The ground got so close that I could feel it on my face. But I still couldn't feel the hands of death. My mind was still intact and I was feeling all over my body.
It wasn't until I opened my eyes that I realized the young man holding me up by my pyjama top.
His gaze was scornful and accusing and also held a little if no expression of disgust.
I didn't realize I was still hanging in the air until my face crashed into the hard floor when my pyjama gave up and tore.
Groaning and coughing out the air forced into my lungs during the fall, I drag myself of the ground and stand up to me the questioning gaze of my benefactor.
Before I could appreciate him saving my life, cuffs close around my already badly bruised wrists.
"You're under arrest for public disturbance and an attempt to taint the holy House of the One." His slightly dark lips say with a firm gentle voice that made me forget I was being arrested.
Wait what!!
Those were the words that left my mouth as I was dragged behind my handsome looking saviour who was hardly any older than me.
