"DEAR DIARY, somethings surprise me, somethings do not.

It's August 16th, meaning it's my 17th birthday yet, it doesn't feel like my birthday. It just feels like any other day.

It just feels like any normal Tuesday. WRONG somethings missing, oh yeah. Dad. It's a normal Tuesday apart from the fact my bastard of a father decided to leave my Mom, Emory and I.

I'm worried sick about Mom. I mean sure, dads threatened about leaving before, but not even I thought he would go through with it. He only left a few days ago.

He didn't even say goodbye nor did he wish me a happy birthday through text..not that I am surprised. But then again I suppose that's what happens as you get older, people care less about your birthday.

I offered to make Mom some herbal tea. She denied. "I'm not in the mood Camille" she said. I don't blame her if my husband of fifteen years left me. I wouldn't be in the mood for herbal tea either.
Bye diary,
Cami."

I closed my diary putting it back in my drawer and then with my key, I locked the drawer as the last thing I could possibly need right now is Mom or Emory finding my diary.

As I went to get up from my desk I  heard a gentle knock at my bedroom door.

Before I could even question who it is, my mother, Michelle enters my room. Her eyes, puffed red, I could tell she had been crying. Anyone could've spotted her tears from a mile away.

"Mom, hey..is everything okay? Whats up?" I questioned my saddened Mother, as I walked over to her pulling her in for a hug.

"Everything's fine Cam..we just need to discuss a few things." she replied sniffling while she hugged me back. I slowly pulled away from the hug giving her a concerned look.

What could she possibly need to discuss?

"Mom, what is it?" I questioned as she folded her arms.

My Mom took in a deep breath and let out a huge sigh.

Uh oh.

This isn't going to be good.

"Well, as you know your father paid for everything, this house, the bills, our clothes," her eyes start to tear up again, so I gently touched her shoulder to reassure her that I was there and listening. My Mother always tried to put on her toughest front as if she's just invincible. She pretends everything is fine when it's not.

"I'm listening.."

"Well, he left, and I lost my job a few weeks ago so now.." my mother started to cry and so again, I pulled her in for another hug.
