"what're you doing over here?"

zemora had her gaze lost in the clouds within the sky when harry potter made his way around the corner of the hall. she resided upon the wall separating the opening of the hall and the courtyard. she was positioned to shield away sun, at least until harry found himself sitting by her side. the sun rays would hit her night-sky eyes from precise angles forcing the brown to glimmer ever so slightly.

"no permission slip?"

zemora shook her head, the act followed by a shallow chuckle. "seems as though his torment is never enough."

"if it makes you feel any better, mine either." harry said nearly below a whisper as his piercing gaze remained upon her features. "we'll be stuck here together."

"we're a lot alike, you and i." zemora finally met harry's blue orbs which lingered with specks of green. her head tilted in a studious matter before a gentle grin was forming upon her lips, forcing her dimples to be visible. "consider us kindred spirits, potter."

"professor, can i ask you something?"

"you want to know why i stopped the both of you facing your boggarts, yes?" remus lupin concluded the question swarming the potter boy's brain. the three made their way down the bridge connecting the forbidden forrest to an entrance to the school. "i thought it'd be obvious."

"he was going to use a curse." zemora's elbows leaned against the railing as her gaze remained in the mountains in the distance. "that's why he did it for me. as for you, harry, well—"

"i assumed yours would take the shape of lord voldemort." the professor replicated zemora's position by her side, harry doing to the same after mere moments.

the potter boy couldn't express the emotion zemora's words conjured, much less pin point the feeling. harry simply recognized the hopelessness it brought as he attempted to rid himself of the thoughts growing darker by the second.

"i did think of voldemort at first." harry finally stated with a subtle shake of his head. "but then zemora said she couldn't face it and i thought of the night on the train— watching her in pain, the dementor."

remus turned his frame towards harry, nearly blocking the gryffindor from feeling the piercing gaze of the girl's eye. "that suggest what you fear most is fear itself, as well as losing the ones you love."
