Tip 5: Intros!

Introductions may just be the most difficult part about writing.

You want to set the scene PERFECTLY- But don't know where to start?

Usually I have too many ideas on how to start or too little. Sometimes none at all!

Try just writing random words down on the page. Think about what your character would be doing, what is their daily routine? Start there maybe!

BUT BUT BUT!!!!!

N E V E R

E V E R

Start with the cliche: Waking up early in the morning, the sun was bright and the birds were chirping. I yawn and stretch before getting out of bed.

It's boring, it's predictable, it's just bad.

There are ways to start your piece: Mid-action, dialogue, description, or some sort of question/thought to engage the readers.

The base of it is that you want the reader to stay and read!

You want them to read the first line and be like "Oh, now this is interesting!"

Lastly, write what feels right, what you feel is going to be a good intro.

It's all down to you.
