Paris, France circa February 1984
"Can you smile normally," Beth asked from behind the camera. Each time she tried to take a picture, John would quickly switch to a silly face.
For their one year anniversary, John took Beth to Paris, France for a week vacation. The pop-star squeezed their anniversary between his tour. Back when they were planning the dates, he made sure he had one week to spend with Beth in the beautiful city.
"Okay, okay," he calmed his laughter. He smiled, his adorable big smile but then quickly curled the corner of his lips upwards and crossed his eyes right when she snapped a picture.
"Nigel John Taylor, for Christ's sake," she groaned from where she stood. John busted out into laughter at the frustrated Beth.
A woman came up to Beth and asked her if she'd like for her to take their picture together in front of the Eiffel Tower. Beth thanked her and rushed to John's side.
"Can you please smile normal for this one," she begged, pouting her lip and her eyes sparkling.
"Alright," he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "But only if we can do a silly one right after."
"Deal."
Beth rested her head on John's chest and smiled brightly. John wrapped his arm around her waist and gave his best smile."Cheese!"
Lydia and Nicolas Ansel's, the newly wedded couple, wedding ceremony went beautiful. Their vows were full of love, the truth, and pure loyalty. Beth couldn't help but shed a few tears as the couple recited their vows to each other. Beth was one of the bridesmaids and she couldn't have been more honored to be.
Lydia was a literal goddess in the flesh; her blond hair perfectly done, her makeup that was lightly done because Nicolas preferred her with none on, and her wedding dress made her look like a real life princess.
It was now the wedding reception and the couple danced on the floor like nobody was watching. Nicolas twirled a laughing Lydia and admired the beauty of the wife he knew he was lucky to marry.
Beth smiled to herself, watching the 'Ansel's' filled with pure happiness. Beth stayed seated at her table with no date to dance with. She could easily ask someone to but she didn't feel like doing that. Instead she watched other people dance. Dancing reminded her of her old flawless partner.
"Hi Beth," the deep familiar voice said behind her. Beth whipped her head around to look up to Matt himself. A bit caught off guard that he would want to speak to her, especially what happened the last time they spent time together.
"Hey Matt," she quickly stood up and gave him a hug. "How have you been?"
"I've been good, just been traveling for shoots," he shrugged. "How about you? How have you been holding up?"
"If you mean that about John, then I'm doing fine," she lied. "That was months ago and we're both over it."
Matt instantly felt stupid, he gets so flustered when he's around her, even right now. He's read the magazines about her and John's breakup and also found out how quickly he moved on. For some reason, Matt thought John was the dumbest person on earth for ending things with Beth.
