It took 4 driving hours until we finally stopped. We arrived at the house to Cross' friend and caretaker of the island, he's also gonna be the one who's gonna take us there.  I checked the time.

9:34 pm.

We don't have time to waste. There was this simple cute house by the beach, there were some fishing nets being hung outside as well as a boat not afar. Cross went to knock on the door as we waited patiently.

"I think they're already asleep" Daniel states as he yawns himself, probably sleepy just like he always is.

"No, I knew him" Cross knocked on the door for the second time as Daniel and I stood awkwardly behind him.

"Martin? Are you there?" There were footsteps coming towards us from inside the house as the door opens revealing an old man who I think that was 50 plus. The Hispanic blood was radiating from him. His face immediately brightens up as he saw Cross as he smiles and it was pleasant to see the genuine smile on the old mans face.

"Cross, is that you? " He asks in wonder with an accent in it. Cross smiles back and nodded, I think they were really close.

"Yes, old man. This is me" Cross scratches his neck almost shyly.

"Why, I wouldn't have recognized if it wasn't for that necklace" The old man says pointing at Cross key-shaped necklace still with a smile on his face. "So, what brings you back here? I thought you were gonna abandon the island" he asks with sadness on his voice.

"I'm sorry Martin, we're kind of in a hurry now. I can tell you on the way though" Cross replies.

"We need to go into the island as soon as possible"

"Yes, of course, I'll take you guys there myself. " He must've saw the troubled expression on Cross face as he zips his mouth and went to take the neccesary things.

10:00 pm.

We were now sailing on the boat as we make our way towards the island.  Cross tells Martin about everything from the start, from how his father died and the goons that were chasing us. They must've been really close since he could tell him anything. And the worried look on Martin's face just adds up.

Only silence predominated our little trip, Daniel was sleeping peacefully on the wide part of the boat while Martin was on the front side, navigating our way. As Cross and I stared at nothing but the little waves crashing to the sides of the boat with a whoosh. I looked up the sky and it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.  It was like paint splashed and sprinkled up the gloomy sky to make it beautiful and alive. I can't help but smile.

I'd like to stay here forever and just gaze up the sky.

I felt someone staring at me and saw Cross, and for a second, I felt like I was drowning into his brown emblems. He broke the contact before I could process what's happening. I blinked twice before snapping myself back to reality and decided to just enjoy the stars above. I sighed and hugged myself as the cold breeze nipped my bare skin.

I rubbed my hands to produce some heat. Suddenly, a warm jacket covered me.

"Here" Cross muttered and placed it properly on me. I stared at him.

"Wait, how about you? " I was about to remove it and give it back to him but he stopped me.

"Stop protesting for a while and just wear it" He says shortly before ignoring me again. I looked at his side profile. He's unbelievable. How can he be caring and cold at the same time?
