(Third person)
Alex walk with the girl for a few minutes. "So, I'm guessing you came from the city before you found out you weren't a boy?" She said giving a soft smile. "Yeaaa, who are you by the way?" They said smirking back. " oh! I'm so sorry! I'm emerald, but up you can call me emmie!" She said beaming. It had been quite some time she had seen another her age.
Alex's mood was brought up just by emmie's presence, that's just how cheerful she was. After a few more minutes of walking, they came to a gate that was covered in rose vines. Emmie opened the gate and proped it open with a stick. Immediately a woman in a white blouse and black slacks came up to her and smacked her on the back of the head. "Emerald green smith! What did I tell you about running off! You know your mother would be pissed!". Emmie looked at Alex and pointed at them. " but ma, I was helping..... uhm..... wow, i never got your name." Alex cocked their head to the left a bit and smiled. "Alex, or A. I honestly don't mind!" They said at emmie. "And who might you be?" They said looking up at the woman. She look like she was in her late thirty's and early forty's. "Oh! How rude of me! I'm Mary! Emmie's mum.". She had a thick Irish accent, which was usual to hear since they were so close to Ireland. They assumed she came here only to discover people of the non male kind were "unwelcome".
Emmie clicked her tounge and crossed her arms. "What are your pronouns? I wouldn't want to misgender anyone!" She keeping her eyes glued on a butterfly that was by Alex's face. "Oh, they/them. What are your's?" They said before turning their head and looking at the butterfly. It had blue and gold wings, which was unusual to them because they only had red or orange butterflies in the city. They looked back to see comforted looks on Mary and emmie's faces, which was enough in itself to comfort Alex. "She/her" emmie said quietly before holding her hand out to touch the butterfly. It landed on her ring finger and crawled to the center of her hand, then took off back into flight.
Mary looked back to see a red car in her driveway. "Alex, since you have nowhere else to go, why don't you stay with us for a while. That is, until we can get you situated, of course." She said smiling at a woman who got out of the car. Alex went to consult emmie but found she had already dashed to the woman in the driveway. "That seems chill." They said before slowly walking over toward emmie, who was waving them over.
"So, what your telling me is you found Alex out side the gates and drug them here?" The woman said. She had a green dress that looked almost identical to emmie's dress and white flats on. "Hi, I'm Medusa. and before you ask, no, I do not have snakes for hair and I can't turn people to stone." She said obviously joking. "Why don't you come on in and join us for dinner! I'm making ravioli." She said with a smile. She took her shoes off in the hallway and placed them on a big pile of shoes. Both Alex and emmie proceeded to do the same. "Come on Alex, let's go to my room while we wait.". Alex followed emmie up the steps of her house and into a small room with a loft and a desk. There was floral designs on the walls and a soft carpet on the floor, however it was empty for the most part.
