Standing in front of her mirror, Rosie evaluated her outfit choice for tonight; a pair of grey sweatpants, a matching grey sweatshirt and a turtleneck coming through the collar of it. She stood there and thought practically and thought her outfit was a good choice for being surrounded by ice.
Although she knew it was, in Stiles' eyes, sort of their first date but she would rather be comfortable than not be but she did put in a large amount of effort with makeup. Saying large amount of makeup just means some mascara, eyeliner, blush and some clear lip gloss.
Her phone, which was on charge, rattled against her dressing table as a message from Allison lit up the phone. Lydia was at Allisons and she had said that her father, Chris Argent, had spoke about keeping an eye on Lydia, and had also said that she should technically spy on Rosie as they were still unaware of her condition.
For one night, Rosie thought that the perplexity and questions of what she is would have faded away and that she could escape the crushing feeling of the unknown. But yet she was wrong. With this thought in her mind, Scott interrupted it by sliding into her room excitedly.
"Hey you ready?"
"Yeah, I just need to put my shoes on." She said, taking her phone off charge and walking over to put it in her bag. The pulverizing thoughts that constantly flooded her mind had slowly evaporated at seeing the sight of Scotts excited face.
"Is that what you're wearing?" He asked casually while jumping on her bed backwards like a child would.
"Yeah why? Am I too underdressed?"
"Oh no its just I thought this was yours and Stiles' first date that's all." Like a dog, he rolled over onto his stomach, trying not to stress his sister out. "Besides, I think the girls will be wearing something casual as well, so they won't be cold. Smart thinking."
Rosie grabbed her all white converse and smiled at her brother before sitting down beside him and placing them on. Once grabbing her phone she led the way downstairs to wait for Stiles and the jeep.
"You know I will have to give Stiles the talk."
"No, no, no please don't." She begged while grinning. "You don't have to be the embarrassing brother you know."
"Mr Stilinski, what are your intentions with my beautiful but crazy sister?" Scott mimicked while putting on a deeper voice, trying to intimidate. "If you ever hurt her, I'm afraid I will have to kill you with my bare hands- actually scratch that- with my very own claws."
Now Rosie had her head in her hands, embarrassed that Scott had actually thought this through and that there was a high chance that these words would come out of his mouth; for entertainment purposes only of course.
"Right stop because I'm at tears and I have mascara on." Coincidentally the jeep pulled up at the right time. The two gathered up their things, which in reality was not a lot, and got into the jeep. Unusually Scott got into the back of the jeep, allowing Rosie to sit in the front. "What are you doing?"
"That seat is reserved for my date." Stiles said before Scott could explain. As she got in, she blushed and smiled gratefully at both boys, before they drove to the ice rink.
Once they finally arrived in the empty parking lot, they were able to see Allison and Lydia waiting outside. The two wore fancier clothes than Rosie and she felt that they looked dressed for a date and not practically. She sunk in her seat as she felt underdressed when Stiles pulled up beside them and the boys got out.
Rosie stayed behind for a moment, thinking to herself, looking down at her clothes. She began to feel almost scruffy compared to the beautiful girls who could look nice with ease, and not spend the last 2 hours doing minimal makeup. From inside the car, she watched the boys happy and interacting with the girls. Deep down she thought that she was the fifth wheel, not Lydia.
"Rosie, you coming? Or do I have to bring the ice to you?" Stiles called out after unlocking the door with the keys Boyd had gifted them. Then Rosie got out the car and walked into the now lit ice rink behind them. She said hey to Allison and Lydia which eased her feeling of being the odd one out.
Once inside, Scott and Allison wandered off together, lost in each others eyes, to put their skates on. Whereas Lydia, Stiles and Rosie walked to a bench and began lacing up their skates.
"Could it be any colder in here? Rosie I wish I was wearing what you are, at least I would be warm." Lydia moaned as she shivered. The comment didn't make Rosie feel any better about feeling underdressed but she didn't make a big deal out of it.
"Here." Out of his bag, Stiles pulled out an orange jacket and offered it to Lydia, who sneered at it ungratefully. Rosie, not usually being the jealous type, still said nothing.
"Im wearing blue. Orange and blue, not a good combination."
"But it's the colors of the mets." He watched Lydias eyes roll so he placed the jacket back in his bag before pulling out a Reece's and giving it to Lydia. She finally agreed and took it. Stiles looked down at Rosie and laughed while whispering. "Tough crowd."
"They're cute together." The strawberry blonde stated as she watched Scott help Allison up from the bench before getting off the bench herself, heading to the rink.
"Come on lets go, missy." Stiles said and Rosie half expected him too to help her up off the bench like Scott had done with Allison but he did not. Instead he got up and waddled towards the rink, leaving Rosie to only follow. As she got to the rink, Lydia had already done a lap of it and was nearing her and Stiles at the entrance.
"Rosie whats wrong? You're usually talkative."
"Nah its nothing." From beside her, Stiles looked at Rosie realizing that something was off with her. He was about to say something when Lydia spoke first.
"Come on, take my hand. Ill cheer you up." Taking Lydias hand, Rosie allowed herself to step onto the ice before being whisked away at speed by the once professional skater. "You're a quick learner right?"
During the time that Lydia took her skating, Rosie had quickly learned how to twirl fast on the ice without even falling once. She had also learned to jump on the ice and combine the two, and then receiving an all round clap from everyone. Therefore evaporating the mood she was in earlier.
Stiles had been doing circles round the ice while constantly looking at Rosie learning all of these things which sometimes resulted in crashing into the wall, but thankfully no one saw that. Rosie then decided to skate over to Stiles as Lydia revisited the routine she once knew.
"How'd you do all that?" He asked in amazement, as he stopped himself, almost falling over in the process.
"Quick learner. Come on." She laced her fingers in his and led the two around the ice rink. They passed Scott along the way, who had crouched over and was wobbling in front of Allison. "I have to say, you're better than I thought."
"Well, I'm full of surprises." He winked and held their hands tighter together as they circled once more around the rink, not noticing that Lydia was on the floor. Suddenly, she made the others aware by screaming.
Scott and Allison entered the rink once more and found Rosie trying to hold back Lydia as she screamed at the floor. Stiles looked up at the two confused as much as they were.
"Lydia you're okay. You just saw something that's not there. Come here. Come on." Rosie cradled Lydia in her lap as she continued to whimper. Allison had too come to her side but didn't know what to do.
Placing her hand on Lydias forehead, Rosie felt the heat rising from it and into her hand as Lydias cries quieted down. The heat stopped as soon as Lydia stopped making noises which ricocheted through the building. Rosie had stopped it.
