Its a bright morning in the glade, the sun shining and the sky clean. I awake to the noise of the gladers scurrying around doing thier jobs. Newt is passed out beside me. Most of the drink seems to have weared off from me but after last night i won't be surprised if Newt isn't up until midday. I kiss him lightly on the forehead before heading over to Minho who is perched on a log outside the entrance of the maze. "hey Minho" i say rubbing my eyes to make me seem more awake than i am feeling. He looks up and smirks "hey y/n, did you have a good night" he says motioning over to wear newt was sleeping. I smile "yes in fact i did, even though i don't remember half of it" i say scratching the side of my head. "looked like you were having fun anyways" he says checking his watch for the time "shuck it that bloody boyfriend of yours better wake up soon or we won't be able to run today". I look over at Newt who is still passed out on the floor. "i don't think he will be coming around any time soon, what about the others can't the fill in today". Minho brings his eyes over to the med jacks who are tending to 2 boys "still injured from the last time im afraid". I look over to where the two gladers are and see Alby coming towards us. I can see Minho straighten up as he sees him.
Alby joins us at the entrance of the maze not looking to pleased "y/n, where is Newt!!??" he asks me with annoyance in his voice. With hesitation i point over to wear Newt was still unconscious under a tree. Alby follows my finger to wear Newt is. "shuck that slinthead i can't have Minho going into the maze by himself it's out of the question". I step forward knowing that this is my chance to prove myself. "i could go with Minho i know the route Newt takes as he tells me it every night plus it's not as if you have any other choice Alby". I can see Alby thinking over the question at hand in his head before answering me "ok just this once y/n, next time im not leaving you or Newt near gallys drink again". Jumping up and down on the inside but trying not to show it i say thank you to Alby as quickly going to the map room to get Newts sack, knifes and stuff before rejoining the boys back at the maze entrance. Minho and i wave bye to Ably while running into the maze.
-Newt pov-
I don't even have time to register where i am when im skaken awake by Gally. My eyes open widely before quickly closing as the sun seeps into them "gally, gally what the shuck are you doing?" i ask annoyed by the startling awaking. "Newt what time do you think it is?" he asks me whilst im getting into an sitting position. I look up at the sky "uh i don't know man 11?". Gally shakes his head "shuck sake Newt its 4 in the evening". I bolt straight up. "4?!! why did you let me sleep in that long?". Gally puts out his hand for me to take "we have been trying to wake you all day, with no luck obviously". Taking his hand and pulling myself to my feet i look around "where is y/n/" i ask a little concerned. "shes in the maze" he says walking away. "oh ok" i say not registering what he actually say "WAIT WHAT shes in the maze?, why is she in the maze?, who let her in there?, is she ok?". Gally turns back around "bloody hell Newt i'd say she's fine she can take care of herself anyways we needed someone to step in for you to run with Minho as you were you know" he says making an impression of me passed out on the grass. "don't remind me, well when do you think they will be back?" i ask. He looks over to the west entrance where they should be coming out of "soon enough the doors are nearly closing shortly". Still worried for y/n i say thanks to Gally for awakening me and start to make my way over to the maze doors to wait for y/n and Minho.
Its about an hour later and a rather large group of gladers have now joined me at the doors. I can hear whisperings among me wondering where y/n and Minho are. Now really concerned i walk over to Alby. "they aren't back yet, what are we going to do" i ask him. Alby looks at me with sympathy "i don't know if there is anything we can do Newt im not risking anyone elses lives". I look at him and can feel the tears starting to form in my eyes "the doors are gonna close any second please i can't leave her in there." as if on que the door start to slowly close. Alby pats me on the shoulder "im sorry mate". He says trying to get everyone away from the doors. I stay and watch as the doors inch by inch close even more. There is about a 3 meters of space left when i see two figures coming around the corner. Yess i think to myself they are ok but as the start coming forward i see one of them is hurt. Once i finally make Minho and y/n out i can see y/n dangling from Minhos arms as he sprints his hardest through the doors just as they close. He drops y/n down onto the grass before collapsing down beside her. Tears in my eyes i run over and kneel over y/n. "y/n....y/n....y/n.... please talk to me love, please i need you, please talk to me". The medjacks come running over taking her and minho from me but i quickly follow behind them over to the med shack where they lay her down.
I sit by her side as the medjacks looks after her and MInho tells me what happened. "we were running for ages and we came to this sort of cross roads i hadn't seen it before but y/n wanted to explore both paths. We didn't have enough time to go through both together so i went one way and she went together. we had planned to meet back at the spot we were at in 20 minutes but when i was finished running and had made it back to the spot she was nowhere to be seen. I called her name and i didn't get any answer so i went down her path to see and there she was lying on the floor i ran to her as fast as i could and shook her awake. She couldn't run properly as something was after stinging her so i carried her." i interrupted him. "then why isn't she waking up now" i say angry at Minho even though it isn't his fault. "im getting to that Newt. Basically we were 10 minutes out from the glade when this big creature jumped out in front of us. It was scaly and black and made a clink...clank noise when it took a step forward. I managed to defend it off but i had to leave y/n down to do so and well" he looked down at his feet trying not to meet my eyes. "well um he had a friend that came from behind and it stung y/n in multiple places..... im really sorry Newt i did all i could i swear". Trying to hind my emotions i thank minho and tell him to go get food from fry for himself.
Soon enough it was nightfall and the medjacks came into the shed after leaving to discuss what they thought of the situation. I stand up still holding onto y/n's hand. "listen newt um im really sorry" conor says not meeting my eyes "we don't think she is going to wake up umm we will leave you here for a while to process the information and once again we are rly sorry we tried our best" he says going back out the door. My heart sinks, my mind is still processing what just happened. i turn to look at y/n. Apart from the couple of cuts and bruising she looks like she just asleep, silent, peaceful, beautiful. I lay newt to her my face now drenched in tears. "i need you y/n, i love you so so so much" i whisper into her ear. Soon eneough im after crying myself to sleep.
A/N: hey guys, so im so so so so sorry if this isn't what you wanted but this is where newt commits suicide. As i have never gone through this i don't know what it is like and i felt wrong and uncomfortable writing the next bit of the chapter. I hope you all understand what i mean. And i hope none of ye ever go through it. Just remember that everything will work itself out in the end :). so basically im just going to go through what happens in the end of this chapter so i can start the next one in the next few days.
this is what happen:
y/n is "dead" for another day and newt can't take it anymore so he climbs up the walls using the ivy and jumps. Minho finds him and brings him tp the medjacks, he is unconscious for about a day.
y/n on the otherhand is actually in a deep coma and is having flashbacks to the outside world and remembering the flare. then she gets remember to the part where she is being put in the maze and wakes up while Newt is unconscious. everyone is very surprise and so happy to see her alive. When she wakes up she is still sore but some of her wounds are healed. when she is fully awake she is informed that Newt is in the room next to her just after waking up from his attept of suicide andshe goes to see him.
Newt can move as he has badly broken his leg. Y/n goes into the room.
HERE IS WHERE I START BACK ON THE CHAPETER:
I walk into Newts room to see him laying down on the bed his eyes open. I burst into tears seeing him so helplessly lying there. "y/n?" Newt calls eyes starting to form in his eyes. "yes newt, yes Newt its me" i say walking over to him and sitting on the floor by his head. "I can see him starting to cry more now so i try to calm him down "hey hey hey, Newt irts okay, everything is okay, im here, im here." He pulls himself slowly into a upright position trying not to move his leg. "but...but you were gone y/n, you were dead". Still crying i laugh lightly "its gonna take alot more than that for you to get rid of me". He leans in closer "i love you so much y/n don't leave me ever". I lean in closer until are lips are brushing against eachothers. "i wont Newt". He pu;ls away and looks me in the eyes "promise me". I pull him back into me and kiss him for a second before pulling out "i promise Newt" i say before kissing him once again.
Its late now and everyone is asleep. Newt need to rest his leg so i get up to leave planting a small kiss on his fore head and im at the door when i hear him move in the bed slowly obviously trying not to move his leg. He pats the new space beside him "stay" he looks at me "please". I turn back and lie in next to him taking off my shoes. I cuddle in close trying not to disturb his legs position and whisper into him as we drift of to sleep "always".
