Right after she had heard the quest, she started planning. Her first meeting with the queen would be in three days at her coronation. She won't kill her, no, not yet. She'll take her time with this target. She'd always admired Feline, well who didn't, she was very good-looking. Not that the minor crush she had on her would come in the way of the quest. In fact, it would only make it more interesting. She'd have to start traveling north to Arradell tonight if she was going to make it. An invitation wasn't necessary as everyone in Auddella was invited. The travel would take all night and all tomorrow, so she would have to pack and leave as soon as possible.
Her apartment was only a few blocks away from the academy. She had gotten her own place right after she graduated, eager to experience the feeling of freedom. She wasn't free, not even the slightest, but at least she didn't live under her strict, overprotective uncle's roof anymore. Walking up the stairs, unlocking the door, and walking into her apartment, she felt the hairs on her neck rise. She heard a noise coming from her bedroom. Grabbing the grip of the dagger she had played with earlier, she walked in complete silence to her bedroom door and listened. Another sound came from the other side of the door. With that, she decided to open the door. She saw a shadow in her left eye corner and attacked. Aiming for the throat, not to kill, just to disarm the invader. Seconds later the intruder was laying on their stomach.
"Hello to you too Nil" said the person.
Nil immediately recognized the voice. How didn't she notice the second she saw her.
"Could've said you were coming, Xara." Nil answered in a playful but not in a quite relaxed tone.
"Yeah I could have, but where's the fun in that."
"Pft" Nil snorted. Her instincts had now calmed down.
"What is your business here anyway, need help with something?"
"What makes you say that"
"Well, only that every time you come unnoticed is when you are in deep shit or you need something from me. Or both."
"Ahhh. It's a shame you know me so well. Technically I should kill you for that, but I won't. First of all, I couldn't because the only one better than me is you."
"Enough flattery. What is it?"
"I've come to ask if you want to assist me with a quest, just like when we were partners at the academy. To good ol' days, you know?"
"Wish I could, but I've got a quest of my own."
"Who is it this time? Some lord or lady? An enemy of a customer? Someone, I know about?"
"All of the above actually, or I'm not quite sure if it's an enemy of the customer. It's Feline. The upcoming queen of Auddella."
"Oh shit. You kidding?"
"No. Dead serious. A customer named Grath Yonlav wants her dead for some reason and apparently, he's got a lot of money because my uncle wouldn't take that quest unless it would make him hella rich."
"So what's your plan Nilly?"
"I'm leaving tonight, that's actually why I came home in the first place. Or else I would've been between a girl's legs right now."
"I'm just gonna ignore that last part. Mind if I join?"
"You don't even know where I'm heading. I guess that's more your style anyway, but didn't you have a quest?"
"The quest will still be here when I get back you know. So what do you say, may I join madam?"
"As long as you mind your business, you may join Junior."
"Ha-ha. You do remember I'm still two years older than you?"
"You do remember that I can kill you in under a minute?"
"Yeah, but you can kill other people in just a few seconds. I'll take that as a compliment. Thank you."
After that X went to start packing her bags and Nil started packing hers. 20 minutes later they met outside X's place and left on a horse's back each.
