"Me before her" is an adaptation of the novel "Me before you" written by Jojo Moyes to the story of Maite and Camino.
Maite Zaldúa (Ylenia Baglietto) is an artist, a successful painter who is happily married and enjoying her life to the fullest, unt...
On a hot Thursday afternoon, the young nurse left the hospital in a hurry, today she would have her first painting class with one of the most recognized artists. The chestnut was nervous, as when she was a child and had her first day of school, she experienced it almost the same way, a mixture of excitement and nerves. Camino did not want her mother to discredit her decision to continue painting, so she asked her brother Emilio to pick her up after her painting class this time, and if everything went well next week she would organize the schedules and the train.
An orange sunset could be seen from the window of Maite's atelier, who was standing in front of it, admiring the sunset while she finished her cup of coffee without sugar.
The doorman's bell rang, the brunette looked at the time on her wristwatch, it was five minutes to the time she had arranged to meet Camino.
- Who is it? De heard a voice coming out of the intercom.
- It's Camino... she answered nervously from the other side of the intercom.
- Come in and saying this Maite pressed the button on the intercom to open the door for her.
Taking the elevator in less than a minute she arrived at the fifth floor where Maite was waiting for her wearing a long red silk robe stained with paint that reached almost to her ankles.
- I thought we were supposed to meet at 18," she said as soon as Camino was in front of her.
- Yes, I'm sorry, I caught the train a little early.
- It's all right, come in," he said, holding out his hand to her.
Maite's apartment had an exquisite style, it was simple but you could tell that the landlady went to detail, like Parisian fashion as her aunt Susana used to tell her.
- If you want you can leave your things on the couch.
Making herself comfortable, she left her black bag on one end of the armchair.
- What a nice apartment you have.
- Thank you and if possible tutor me, if you treat me like you, I feel like I'm 20 years older.
- Let's go to the atelier said Maite leaving the cup in the sink.
Leaving the dining room, the brunette was walking behind the woman who, halfway down the hall, entered the most illuminated room on the entire floor.

The light managed to enter from all sides and illuminate even the most secluded corner of the room. The painter's green eyes became almost emerald-colored with such clarity, once again impressing Camino, who did not want to miss any detail of everything that entered through her retina. Undoubtedly Maite's atelier was nothing like Renzo's atelier, which was always cluttered and crammed with things that were mostly obsolete and worn out but that he never wanted to get rid of.
- No... she said walking slowly looking around. I've been in another atelier but it looks very different; it's amazing, she acknowledged with her eyes wide open.
Finishing setting up one of the lecterns and placing on it a blank canvas of intermediate size Maite started the class.
- I've seen how you draw, let's see how you do with oils," she said defiantly, standing to one side of the lectern.
- What do you want me to paint? Nervously asked the student.
- Surprise me," she replied, handing her a white robe with a very simple but beautiful print, similar to the one she was wearing.
Camino felt her feet freeze, as if her soul had gone to her feet. Maite Zaldúa was daring her to surprise her. How was she supposed to accomplish such a feat, the young woman wondered inwardly, she had no idea where to start, she had the feeling that this whole class thing was starting to be a bad idea.
With her distant and strict air, the brunette gave her space and sat down on one side of the counter in front of one of the windows at the end of the room to finish some work that was pending.
With the supplies at hand and still without a clear idea of what to capture on that canvas, Camino put on her white coat and began to look for some brushes and oils. While she was thinking in her head about what to paint, she remembered Cayetana's words: you have nothing to lose; it is better to try than to remain in doubt.
The two hours passed like the wind for the brunette, who had become completely absorbed in her work, which she was very close to finishing in record time. The class was almost over, so the painter came up behind Camino to look at the chestnut's work and was completely blown away when she saw the painting.

- You'll have to work a little on the proportions," she pointed out, trying not to let her astonishment at seeing herself captured in the painting show.
The girl had managed to capture her essence with absolute naturalness, something she had not expected at all.
- From what I see you have it ready. It is suggestive, balanced and alive.
- Is it ready? But I haven't finished it yet.
- You chose an impressionist style, didn't you? You can leave some parts unfinished. Put a brushstroke of color in the shadow and that's it.
Maite knew perfectly well that that last brushstroke was not necessary, she only said it as an excuse to gain time and keep her countenance under control, she didn't want the young woman to know about the disorder of emotions she had provoked in her with her painting.
