Brad's Long Day

Embracing It

"Have you heard the rumors about Brad?” Clarisa askes her friends.

“Yea I heard that he’s going to prom with Lucas”, said Rebecca.

“Oh my god!”, shrieked Tammy, “I can’t believe he’s gay, He had his pick of any girl, and he chose a boy”

“I know he likes me though” Rebbeca stated all too confidently “we always work together in Bio”

“No, he does not!” Clarisa yelled at Rebecca “He’s always eying me up in the hallway, he likes me!”

“He doesn’t like either of you! He’s gay!”,Tammy shouted.

As Brad walked down the hall, everybody stared at him. The looks he received ranged from disgust to disbelief to amazement. He had no idea why everyone was staring at him but it was starting to make him feel uneasy. As he walked up to his locker, people moved out of his way like he had the plague. The girls that usually crowded around his locker did not show.

Brad left his locker and walked down the hall, headed to his next class.

“Brad!” he heard a voice from behind him yell. He turned around to see Rebbeca standing behind him,”Is it true that you and Lucas are dating?”.

Brad was shocked. He had no clue that rumors were spreading about him, he thought that Lucas and him were keeping it secret, atleast until prom. It was pointless to deny Rebbeca’s statement, so he told the truth.
“Yeah”, said Brad, ”He asked me to prom yesterday. I have had a crush on him since elementary school, so of coarse I said yes”.

Rebecca was devastated. Tears started to pour bown her face. “I thought there was something between us!”, cried Rebecca, “I love you, Brad”. Brad knew some girls had crushes on him, but he didn’t know to what extent. He just now noticed the crowd that had formed around him and Rebecca, all their eyes begging for an answer to the rumors. Brad needed to do something to prove the rumors, and the perfect opportunity was on its way.

Lucas walked up to Brad, he looked slightly concerned. “Babe, whats going on here”, he asked.

“Don't worry about it”, said Brad. He pulled lucas close and gave him a long kiss on the lips. It took Lucas by surprise, but he loved every second of it. Brad took lucas’ hand and walked through the dumbstruck crowd to their next class.
