The Smell of Evil

Chapter 3: Hide and Seek

We've been in the school building for 20 minutes but nothing strange has happened. Honestly, the classrooms were in decent shape. They were dirty and there was a lot of writing on the walls but everything was set up like a normal school. We decided to take a break from wondering around and sat in the halls near the lockers. "I told you guys this was going to be boring. Plus, I was right, there are no ghosts here," Bri said. "Just because we haven't seen any doesn't mean they aren't here," Matthew said on the offence. I thought about things people in horror movies do in this situation. I thought of a fun idea we could do to pass the time. "Let's play hide and seek," I spoke. "Sky are you trying to get us killed or something? What is it with you guys wanting to do the things that the rules say not to do," Cory said. "What rules," me, Matthew, and Bri all said at the same time. "The rules for a horror movie. One of them is to never split up and oh what happens in hide and seek? You split up!" Cory said. "My god Cory, horror movies aren't real. It's just a movie," said Bri. After a while of trying to convince Cory to play with us, she finally gave in. The first seeker was Matthew. He started counting and we had to turn our flashlights off because it would give away our hiding spots, which meant we were in the complete dark. "Sky can I please hide with you?" Cory asked. "I nodded and took her hand and led her with me. We hid in the back of a teacher's desk. It was small which meant me and Cory were super close together. "Ready or not, here I come!" We heard Matthew yell. Cory looked super scared and all I wanted to do was hold her in my arms. I grabbed her hands as I whispered, "Hey its ok. Ill protect you". I stared into her green eyes. Neither of us pulled away like we normally do. Our faces kept getting closer until our lips were almost connecting. Our lips were so close together when we heard Bri scream. We immediately pulled apart and ran to where we heard Bri scream. What we saw as we walked into the room was the first taste of the evil that we would see tonight...
