An honest mistake Season five, episode sixteen
ESME had stood by the nurses station looking down at charts.
It had been almost a week since Addison had arrived with her crew after her brother, Archie, needed surgery from Derek.
Addison had decided to stay a little while longer because of Jen. Jen had just gotten surgery and there was a high risk for her baby.
"Good morning, Dr. Dubois-Sloan," Jack suddenly greeted with a wide smile as he had two cups of coffee in his hands.
Callie and Addison watched from afar, both their eyes narrowed as they watched the couple interact.
"Yeah, you can keep your secret coffee," Esme rejected his offering causing him to frown in confusion.
"Huh?"
"Until you tell Derek, our relationship is gonna continue to consist of you hiding in my room and me snuggling snacks past Mer's bedroom," Esme complained as she took a sip of coffee, "Do you know what that makes you?"
"Your boyfriend?" Jack said in a obvious tone as he smiled.
"Yeah. Anne Frank. I am dating Anne Frank and I'm tired of it. I-I want to go downstairs with you. I want to tell the Germans to kiss my ass," Esme confessed, beginning to feel tired of the constant secret keeping.
"I'm gonna tell him soon," Jack replied to her and Esme didn't look all too convinced, "And when I do, you'll be my date to the wedding. Plus, how exactly am I going to tell your dad?"
"I don't know. He's a...cool dad," Esme told him, but Jack didn't seem to believe that causing Esme to sigh, "Okay, he'll maybe freak out. I mean did you see the pissed off look on his face when he saw Marcella talking to that one teenage boy patient in peds the other day?"
"I'm being a bridesmaid. So your going to have to sit by yourself for the ceremony," Esme told him before widening her eyes, "Derek proposed?"
"Well, not yet, but when he does," Jack told her and Esme only smiled.

MARCELLA stood outside the hospital nursery looking over the babies.
She had a bored look on her face and minutes before she had been walking around the hospital with nothing to do. She had already completed all her assignments causing her to have free time.
"Hey," Marcella heard a voice from beside her and turned to see Addison Montgomery.
"Hi," Marcella greeted back, sending her a small smile before looking back into the nursery.
"So, you want kids? I mean whenever I see you, your always staring into the nursery," Addison told her and Marcella shrugged her shoulders.
"Babies are the only thing that comfort me in this hospital. There's either dying people or healthy people everywhere," Marcella admitted, "I mean, I'm dying anyways, so what's the point of having a kid? Plus, even if I live long enough to have a kid, I'm probably not even going to survive."
Addison had a frown placed on her face as she looked at Marcella, "Then why are you in Med school studying to become a surgeon? Shouldn't you be living your life to the fullest?"
"I want to save other peoples lives even though mine can't be saved," Marcella told her, a calm look on her face.
"Why are you so calm? About knowing someday you'll die in just a few years?"
"I'm so used to death. Every doctor tells me that I was either going to die when I was one, five or ten. Then fourteen years later, boom I'm still alive," Marcella told her, a sigh escaping her lips.

ESME walked alongside both Alex and Meredith, just before hearing Jen's cries and the monitor beeping rapidly from down the hall which caused the three to run.
"What happened?" Meredith asked, the three of them had entered the room and Esme's face fell.
"The patch must've blown. Page Addison. Tell her to meet me in the O.R. Let's—" Derek said in a rushed tone before pulling her gurney.
"I just called her parents. I told 'em everything was okay. Hey, Dr. Shepherd—" Jen's husband began to call out as Esme and Meredith stood in front of him, "Look, I don't understand. He said the surgery was a success."
"Okay, I'm gonna out and give you an update as soon as we can, okay?" Esme told him before rushing off.

"The swelling's not going down," Derek spoke up in a frustrated tone as Esme and Meredith stood next to him in the O.R.
"Maybe the ventriculostomy is plugged," Esme suggested and Derek sighed.
"No. Damn it," Derek told her and Jen's contractions had gone up rapidly.
Everyone in the O.R looked at each other uneasily, knowing that Derek was doing too much damage.
"Derek?" Meredith called out to him, but he seemed to focused on the surgery.
"I have to take out the temporal lobe," Derek informed them and Esme's eyes widened knowing it will kill Jen.
"Won't that kill her?" Alex asked in a confused tone.
"No, um, but she could lose some of her speech, uh...voice, memory," Addison spoke up in a uneasy tone.
"The brain can rewire," Derek tried telling them, "I've done it before to stop seizures."
"Have you done it before for this?" Esme pointed to the monitor and Derek didn't seemed to care.
