Straight To Earth

Dragon's Breath's POV:

As soon as we landed on Earth, a pool of colour spilled into my eyes, the greens and the blues so vibrant and beautiful that it reminded me of Bleenet. But this was better than Bleenet. The colour was less blinding.

As we stepped off the ship one by one a wisp of wind flowed around me. We walked closer to the other Crystal Gems as if we had lived with them for years.

After a long training session, though, I felt as though I'd be more comfortable on my own. I sat by myself by a rocky pool of shimmering water - actual water.

I heard a gasp.

I looked around, only to see a bronze gem looking at me from behind a tree.
"Hello?" I said. "Uh, it's okay. You don't have to hide behind that tree." I smirked.
The bronze gem moved slowly out from behind the tree, allowing me to observe her features. Her hair was short and bushy, she wore shorts and boots, and I could tell from her gem shape that she was a smoky quartz.
"Omigod," she whispered. "You- You noticed me? You're, like, my hero! I'm literally your biggest fan!"

Wut.

I didn't even know I had fans! But hey, if other gems liked me then I wouldn't fight it.
"I love how you escaped from the Diamonds when they thought you were defective!" she continued. "Is it true you were saved by Pink Diamond? Oh, DBO, why are you all alone here?"
She was clearly extremely excited to see me.
"Uh, I just wanted to chill," I said. "And yes, it's true that Pink Diamond saved me from being shattered. Pretty much the only good thing she's done, though. She got what she deserved."

Oops. I had forgotten to check whether she was a rebel or not. What if she was a loyalist spying on me? What if she'd only just found out I was a rebel?

"Ah, don't look so nervous," she said, smiling. "I'm Smoky Quartz. I'm one of the Crystal Gems."

Hi! Yes, this chapter was really short - we're gonna have a couple more short ones before we get into the really deep stuff. But first, a few things to clarify about Smoky Quartz: she is NOT the one from the show and she is NOT a fusion.
