I awoke from my deep slumber and felt the light through my window, the light belonging to the sun that shone indicating that another day has begun.

I rub my sleepy eyes with my hand and scratched my tummy with the other.

What time is it? I asked myself.

I reached out to grab my phone and by the time shown by the screen, I jolt from my comfy bed and went to the bathroom right away

-

Just in time!

I sigh in relief the moment I stepped into school.

Walking through the hallway with my backpack as I was about to plug in my earphones until I locked eyes with him.

Sunoo

He quickly looked away, avoiding me as he walked past me.

I sigh at that.

It's been two weeks since I spoke to Sunoo and it was the day of our PE class.

I vividly remember telling him that I wouldn't ignore him and I kept my word.

Instead, it was him who was ignoring me.

I look back at his back profile, I see him walking towards his locker and felt my heart ache.

Why don't you talk to me? Quit acting this way.

I sighed once again as I walked to class.

-

"Okay class, I have an announcement" Mr. Lee spoke and that caught our attention.

We listened to him intently, curious about the announcement.

"As you all know, now that you guys are at your senior year, you will be having your senior prom in three weeks"

My eyes widened at that as my classmates cheered for the exciting and most awaited event.

"Omg! We have to pick out some dresses together! Come with me?"

"I'm so getting a hairdo"

Whispers are heard here and there as I silently sat in my seat.

I too am excited for prom, but with the situation right now? I'm not so sure anymore.

Mia would probably be spending most of it with Niki

Sunoo and I are not on great terms

And Jay? I'm pretty sure he'd take Charlotte to prom.

"Hey"

I turned my head, only to find Charlotte calling out to a bored-looking Jay.

Or emotionless rather.

Jay looks at her, seeming uninterested but he listens anyway

"Can you be my prom date?" She tucks in a strand of hair behind her ear as she shyly smiles at him.

Disgusting

Jay raises an eyebrow at her and stared for a moment

He leans back on his chair and sighs deeply, looking down as he spoke

"Do whatever you want"

A squeal escaped her lips, jumping lightly out of excitement. She then walks away and sits on her seat.

From his response, I felt my heart throb as I struggle to hide the pained expression plastered on my face.

Jay and I are indeed on good terms but there are a few things we still need to discuss between us. Which is mostly about how we feel about each other.

Another is I haven't spoken to him that much lately. He constantly appear as if he has a lot in mind.

Instead of complaining, I just let it go. Not wanting to dig into it any further.

Maybe he just needs some time alone.

I looked at him one more time and noticed the dark circles under his eyes. He looked pale and tired. He looks like he hasn't eaten for days

He's been so off lately. It worries me. But whenever I try to reach out to him he just smiles at me and say's he's okay.

When will he understand that his weak smile and redundant words of assurance won't work as an excuse anymore?

What's wrong Jay? Speak to me

-

"Ave! May I speak to you for a moment?"

I hear Eunji, a clubmate of mine call out to me as I left my classroom after last period.

"Sure. What's the matter?"

"The broadcasting club was told to prepare something for the upcoming senior prom"

"Oh. What do you have in mind?"

"I was thinking if we can discuss it together with the other members regarding that matter. I just wanted to tell you in advance since we might not have much time to prepare"

I nodded at her words, agreeing with her.

"Once I think of something, I'll inform you right away," I say as I smiled at her softly.

I bid my farewell and made my way home.

-

The moment I entered my house, I went ahead and wash up then later changed into my pajamas.

I sat at my study table and tried to come up with a club preparation for prom.

As much as I tried to come up with something, still I had nothing.

"This would have been way easier with Sunoo around to help" I mumble before I slumped down into my chair.

I slowly grabbed my phone to dial a number

I miss our talks. His smile. His presence.

I miss him.

I clicked on Sunoo's name and went ahead and call him.

It's ringing.

Please pick up. Please pick up.

I want to talk to you again, even for a while

"Subscriber cannot be reached, please call again later"

A beep is heard

I close my phone and threw it away onto my bed before I rub my face with both my hands trying to calm my aching heart.

"Take as much time as you need Sunoo" I mumbled to myself

"I'll wait"

I stood up from my chair and made my way to bed, ready to doze off to dreamland.

Until I heard the doorbell

I checked the time and saw that it was already 7 pm

Who could that be?

I made my way downstairs in a hurry.

With no expectations of who may be behind the door, I twist the doorknob and pulled it, revealing a familiar man

The sight made my heart shatter

There stood Jay with tears streaming down his face. A sniff is heard in between his sharp breathing.

His pale and tired state is seen clearer now as he locked eyes with me. His once bright eyes, now replaced with nothing but agony and grief

Jay looked broken

Before I could say a word he enters my home and wrapped his arms around me, now with him sobbing harder.

I hugged him back and slowly rubbed his back hoping it would make him feel better.

Jay, you look miserable. It pains me.

I hear his silent cries and I too feel my tears threatening to roll down my face.

Everything about this pains me

Without knowing what he is going through, I hugged him tighter and spoke

"I'm here. I'm right here, just let it out"

I'm right here
