Hey babies,i hope y'all are fine.
This story won't have any dramatic romanticism.
If you have noticed i wanted to write it because of very basic behavior patterns that are in fact toxic which are normalized in our society.
I have given you characters that are very strong, emotionally and socially but for a change i wanted to show someone emotionally fragile and vulnerable because i feel like all of us go through sad phase sometimes and not all of us are strong emotionally.

Ye affairs, shadi ki limits, socially kya acceptable hai kya nahi.
Ye sb toh hum smjhte hain, lekin dil????

Dil toh nahi smjhta na.
Galat karna zarur bura hai, lekin Galat sochna???

I just wanted to portray the pain of falling for someone when you are married and already feeling like a failure.
I know we have social rules but i wanted to attempt something in which the lines of right and wrong are blurred.

Notice how sumit never outrightly or conventionally disrespects or hurts sana but still is damaging her.

Notice how sana always suppresses and smiles at things she should talk about hurting her but doesn't .
How her eating habits are related to her emotions and how she blames herself for eveything wrong with her.

Most of us think of abuse as something physical.
Something that can be seen or heard but that doesn't mean you can't be hurt because of actions.

Saying it louder for some people

"WORDS NOT MATCHING ACTIONS IS  A MANIPULATION"

It is mental abuse!!!!
And if you promise someone world and then don't even give them an inch, it is in fact betrayal.

So when you read this short story see how our normal words and actions can make or break someone's essence.

Sana was sitting with the ladies and had no idea what they were talking about.

Their language was no typical hindi,it had village slang and she was having a hard time processing it.

It was around 5 minutes when her mother in law said

"Bete jo lai thi na wo dede masi ko apni"

Sana nodded and went to sumit.

Sumit-Kya hua?

Sana-Gift nikalna tha suitcase se...mummy ne kaha hai.

Sumit nodded and said

"Ye lo chabi leke aajao"

Sana was hesitant but she had to say it

"Aah...wo...i don't remember the way..rooms ek jaise hai sb"

She was embarrassed even saying it and sumit's exhausted sigh was another blow.

It was sidharth that said

"Sumit bhai, main dikha deti hun...sana this way"

He waved dramatically and everyone laughed.

Sumit-Theek hai yar,tum dikha aao.

Sana smiled weakly at him and sidharth said

"Manav ne btaya aap ST college mein professor hain"?

Sana-Hanji.

Sid-So cool...i really wanted to teach there, state ka best PE college hai yar.
Tough luck.

Sana saw the ease with which he was talking to her and she was fascinated.

Sana-Aap bhi teaching mein interested hain?

Sid-Arey plz we are agemates, call me sidharth.
Aap bologe toh formality ho jaegi.

Sana smiled and said okay sidharth.

Sid-Han toh anyways, main bta ra tha k i finished my studies and mujhe lgta hai sikhate hue zyada seekhta hai aadmi.
So i was hoping k i will get to teach someplace great.

Sana-Nahi Our college is infact one of the best institutions.
You should try.

Sid-Yea i will thode time mein..abhi toh fresh session mein time hai na.

Sana nodded and when they reached he said

"Okay sana, this is your room and i will go and see who else needs me...milta hun shadi mein...bye"

She waved him goodbye and he left.

"What a nice guy"

She thought and pulled out the gift.

Sana used her memory to go back to where everyone was and spotted all of them sitting together.

Sumit-Aagyi lo,main chala ab.

Masi-Arey tham ja...baith yahan.

Sana was standing dumbfounded when they tore open the packaging and examined the rings.

Sana saw as their fave turned a bit sour and she heard masi say

"Sumit...bhai ka byah hai..isme bhi kanjoosi hain"???

Her face went white. Sana was so scared to say anything.
Why would she say that???

But for sana this shock was subsided when she heard her husband say

"Arey mausi ye toh auraton ke kaam hon inke...mujhe kya pta...main jaa ra bhai ab"

Sana saw the man walking away without sparing her a glance.

The sting of betrayal was so painful that it was getting harder for her to breathe now.

She was so sad because it was a bald lie.

Sana didn't choose the gift,he did.

He specifically told her to buy something cheap.

But now everyone thought she was the cheapskate.

Mom-Arey didi kitni bdhiya toh hai..kya aap bhi.

Masi-Arey han main toh yun hi bola..main kya sachi bol ri thi.
Bahu bdhiya hai bete bahut.

How she wished her face was telling the same thing as well.

Sana gave a weak smile trying to hide her tears.

They were talking like nothing happened but sana was sad.

She excused herself and ran to where her room was.

You know what hurts more.
That in a room full of people, no one will even miss you.
Sana already knows they will ask where she was when they will be about to eat or something.

Sana went inside and sat down on the bed.

She was upset.
Why did she thought for a second that today would be any different???
Sana wiped her tears and rummaged through her bag.

She saw her chocolate covered almonds box and grabbed a bunch.

She started eating it and thinking what all was going on in her life.

These people are so different from what she was used to.

Sana wanted her marriage to work but how is that possible when all the work is on her.

It has to be a two way street right.

While she was eating her emotions, there was a knock on the door.
