It's been over a week since the incident with Daria. Spring break is here, and I honestly couldn't care less.
Apparently every spring break the seniors go out to the beach for a "senior party". Supposedly everyone is going; even Taehyung and Veronica. I only decided to go because I love the beach. Taehyung suggested that I should stay home, but I said no.
I talked to Yoongi the day after his birthday about what went down. I could tell by the look on his face that he was doubting.
"What the hell am I supposed to do?" I cried. Yoongi rubbed my back soothingly.
"I think that it's time to move on, Jungkook." He quietly said. I choked on a sob and ran my hands down my face.
"I don't think I can. She means so much to me."
Yoongi sighed, "I know it's hard, but it's the best option. Plus we'll be graduating in two months. You'll go away to college and forget about her eventually." He tried to lift up the mood, but he failed miserably at doing so.
"How can I just forget her?!" I fell back onto my bed, "She's one of a kind...she changed my life."
Yoongi didn't know what to say, so he told me to get some rest. That was the end of our conversation. I ended up sleeping for twelve hours straight. I didn't even realize how sleep deprived I was.
Yoongi offered to drive to the senior party since I have no motivation whatsoever. By the time we got there, everyone was already there.
"Just try to relax alright?" Yoongi pats my shoulder before walking off towards Hoseok. I place my hands in my hoodie pocket and watch everyone have their fun. There's a giant tent with tables filled with snacks and alcohol. I don't bother going near there. I decide to leave the crowd and walk alo the shoreline. I take off my shoes and hold them in my hand. The warm sand tickles my toes and the smell of the salty ocean fills my nostrils. The sun is already setting, making the sky a reddish orange color. The sun reflects on the ocean, making me squint a bit. I close my eyes and listen to the calm sound of the waves. The light breeze pushes my hair back. I haven't felt this peaceful in a long time...
"Hey."
My eyes snap open and I turn to my right to see Daria walking towards me. My eyes are wide and I gulp at the sight of her. I'm shocked at the fact that she's even talking to me. The last time we spoke was the night of Yoongi's birthday.
What is she doing here?
Yoongi's words about moving on suddenly pops into my head.
Act like you don't care.
I change my shocked expression to a blank one in a matter of seconds. I move my gaze back towards the ocean.
"Shouldn't you be with your new boyfriend?" I blurt out.
Idiot.
"What are you talking about?" Daria furrows her brows. I poke the inside of my cheek with my tongue, "The guy with the blond mullet."
Daria scoffs, "Evan? He's not my boyfriend."
I turn my body towards her and scoff right back at her, "Oh really? Because it sure looks like it. You're with him all the time."
Daria tilts her head and reframes from smiling, "Are you jealous?"
I huff, "Why does it matter?"
"Evan is someone I knew in elementary school. We were never close growing up, but ever since he heard about our breakup he's been there for me. He's just a friend, I have absolutely no romantic feelings towards him." Daria explains. I look behind her and spot Evan talking to some girl.
"He would be a good fit for you." I shrug. Daria steps closer to me and looks into my eyes.
"He's not you." She whispers. My heart leaps out my chest. Her lips are just waiting to be kissed. I'm so tempted to lean down and devour her.
We stare at each other's lips for a few seconds and just as I'm about to lean in, someone calls Daria's name. She steps back and gives me a small smile before walking away. I let out a breath that I've been holding in and rub my temples.
What would've happened if I kissed her? Would she kiss me back? Or would she pull away? I guess I'll never know.
"You ok?"
I remove my hands from my face and see Veronica giving me a look of concern.
"Yeah." I nonchalantly nod my head. Veronica stands next to me and faces the ocean.
"You know I haven't spoken to Daria lately. It's understandable though, considering that I hangout with you a lot." She tells me.
"I don't know what she's feeling." I frown. "I just can't stop thinking about her."
"Do you love her?" Veronica asks. My face turn beet red from her sudden question.
Veronica laughs at my reaction, "It's obvious that you do."
I chew on my bottom lip, "What am I supposed to do?"
Veronica simply answers, "Tell her."
I take a deep breath, "But how? I can't just go up to her and say 'hey I love you'."
"Don't worry." Veronica pats my back, "We will think of something. How about this, Taehyung and I come over tomorrow and we'll think of a plan for you to win Daria back. Sound good?"
I think for a second before nodding, "Yeah."
"It'll be alright Jungkook. I see the way she looks at you. There's no doubt that she feels the same way." Veronica pinched my cheek before walking away, leaving me with my thoughts.
