She had never known life beyond bars. Bound by familial ties to captivity she is kept as a pet for most of her life. Sold from family to family to be put on display, what happens when she's sent as a gift to a certain masked warrior in the middle of...
You didn't recall much of the trip from the boat to your current location, as you had fallen into a deep sleep. When you woke up, you found yourself in a crate, but you werent moving. Everything was still, and you assumed that you were in the prince's palace located in Esempii, the land that his parents sent him to in order to take care of a problem.
The silence was very apparent, but was interrupted by the faint sound of footsteps. You were still trying to adjust to your new location when you heard a voice.
"Why would they send me a bird? As if I don't have enough going on right now..."
It was a male's voice, he sounded frusterated and tired. Your heart began to pound as the footsteps got closer and closer. You had no idea how he would react upon finding out you were actually a human. Well...part human anyway.
"I don't know Dream, maybe a bird will be fun to have around. Some birds can repeat words and stuff!"
A much lighter and joyful voice spoke. There must have been another man trailing behind. The footsteps got louder and louder as they approached the cage. You hugged your knees close to your chest in an attempt to soothe the nerves that were rising with every second.
The man sighed.
"Well, I guess it couldn't hurt to have something fun around for once."
"Hey! I should be all the fun you need, jerk!"
The stressed man sighed, "Yeah yeah, now lets get this thing out."
The cloth was ripped off your cage as you were revealed to the two men who you heard speaking. You stared at them wide eyed in suprise.
what strange looking people...
You continued to hold your knees close to your chest as you observed the two. The first man had a white mask on with a drawn on smile that gave him an eerie aura. The second man wore a blue shirt with strange sunglasses on his head, despite the fact that they were inside.
"George, this isn't a bird."
The man with the mask turned to who you now assumed to be George. "Are my parents going senile?"
George came closer to your cage.
"I don't know man but she has wings? Maybe she is some kind of hybrid? I've got no idea how they came to the conclusion that she was a bird though..."
The man with the mask sighed as he turned back to you.
"You got a name?" He asked.
You stared at him, as you did not have a name. You were about to say that you were never given one, but you were not sure if he wanted you to speak, so you just shook your head.
As you did so, the man in the mask stood rigid. He seemed to have come to some kind of realization.
"George, she could be a spy. My parents said they sent a bird, they couldn't have possibly meant her. What if they took the bird and replaced it with a spy?"
George sighed, "Dream, you are ridiculously paranoid but I already know that once you suspect something you never let it go. What are you going to do with her then?"
"Lets put her on surveillance where we can observe her at all times, we can't risk her escaping and telling them anything. Plus, if they find out their precious comrade has been caught, it might give me more leverage."
Your mind was going a million miles an hour trying to get a sense of what was going on. This man, the prince, was suspecting you of spying? Spying for who? You were about to say something when Dream stepped on your cage with his foot.
"Sorry you ended up as their scapegoat, but you aren't ever getting out of here. George we can't risk her getting feisty, knock her out so we can move her."
George moved over to you and dumped some kind of potion on you. Your vision began to get blurry and you started to sway back and forth. Before you knew it, you passed out. Your senses slowly faded away as you watched the light drain from your sight. •••
A bright light shone through your eyelids as you squinted them awake. Something felt off. You began to look around and immediately knew what was missing.
Where are the bars?
There were no iron bars in sight. Around you was a bright room that contained some cushioning, a table, and some other small items. It was by far the most wonderful place you had ever seen.

Green scenery surrounded you and you pinched yourself to see if you were dreaming. This was the most you had ever been able to see before. You immediately walked towards the lush greenery but ran straight into something and fell.
"Ow..."
"Do you not know how glass works?"
You jumped and whipped your head around, startled by the sudden voice. You hadn't noticed the other presence in the room with you, as you were too distracted by the forest to care.
"Glass?" You questioned, while attempting to sit up in order to see who you were talking to.
"You know, glass? The thing you just ran into?"
"But there is nothing there." You tried to reason with the silhouette that wasn't apparent enough to identify.
"You really don't know how glass works?"
"I guess not."
The shadow let out a sigh and walked towards you, revealing the man in the mask, Dream.
He stepped towards where you were before and reached his hand out. His hand then stopped at some sort of invisible boundary. You glanced at it with curiosity.
"Come here."
You did as you were told and crawled over the young man. You gasped as he grabbed your hand, some of the first physical contact you had had in years. The feeling sent goosebumps all across your body and you shivered, attempting to yank your hand back. He had a firm grip, and slowly pulled your hand towards the "glass". All of a sudden, something stopped your hand. It felt cool, smooth, almost like the texture of water. He let go of your hand as you rubbed your hand across the glass. You looked at it in amazement. It was beautiful. It was like the paper you drew on, it let you see things beyond iron bars.
"Well, I guess this kind of puts away any suspicion that you'd be a spy..."
