Chapter 24: Smokey Air

The next day the teams got right to practice, some complained about being sore but eventually they got over it. It was almost midday when you were handing out waters with Yachi and Kiyoko informed you two that there would be a barbecue after the training finished.

The Kurasuno team looked exhausted, and they were about to play against Fukorodani high school. You knew how intense their matches were and gulped at the spikes that Bokuto-at least that's what you thought his name was- kept hitting. His enthusiasm reminded you a lot of Noyas, but he was more of the intense loud type rather than concentrated and excited.

You were about to go say something before Kiyoko called you out to help set up the grills outside. As you were about to leave you spotted Daichi talking seriously to Tanaka, Noya and Hinata that were slumped on the floor. When you turned away you  heard this ear deafening singing. When you turned to where the noise was coming from you saw the trio, now with Kageyama as well, at full spirits.

They were doing a weird dance, motioning like a train chugging along a track and-oh lord- screeching like there was no tommorow. Your jaw dropped as Kageyama moved in circles in a squat, his arms stuck out at his sides.

"MEAT IS GOD...MEAT IS GOD" they chanted

The ghost dance orchestrated by Tanaka was now flailing their arms up in celebration. Their off tune praise to meat was met by weird stares as nobody else knew what they were talking about.

They kept dancing and it was incredible, you couldn't help but giggle at the sight. It was honestly hilarious, and you swore you saw them drool. You went outside promptly and helped prepare the food, set up plates and cut some vegetables.

When the training camp finished you saw all the guys dig in, fighting over each other to get some food. You watched as Bokuto stole meat from the Nekoma captain Kurro while he was talking to a teammate. Then they went over to Tsukki and paraded him with food. It was kind of cute to watch, like they were trying to befriend the tough guy.

You walked over to get some food, looking to where Tanaka was hunched over with a guy who might as well been his long lost twin. He was from the Nekoma team, and had this delinquent looking mow-hawk.They were concentrated on something behind you, and with a glance you saw it was Kiyoko. The two ran in front of her and started doing a peacock

Mating dance. They moved like snakes in their attempt to charm her, a dangerous aura emitting from them. She didn't really need much help fending them off, but when she finished smacking their faces you went up to Tanaka.

"What's upppp y/n?" He groaned defeated. The other guy googley eyed you silently. 

You pulled Tanaka by the ear and scolded him "you can't just DO THAT lover boy. We need to have a talk later" once you let him go the other guy whispered in his ear.

"And what about this one, shes so pretty" he ogled quietly.

"This one's off limits, Noya's girl" Tanaka indicated. You stared back and forth between them.

"I'm right here guys" you said obviously, your heart beating faster at the mention of being with Noya.

"So you are the y/n I've been hearing so much about" he said with a bow, "Noya wouldn't stop talking about how gorgeous you are and well my expectations have been surpassed."

"aww thank you" you said flattered, "and you are?"

"Yamamoto, Nishinoya is a lucky guy miss" you were full on blushing, red asf.

"Where is that little monster?" You asked, Tanaka pointed to a table on the corner of the patio where him and Hinata were having a food eating contest. "I'll be on my way then" you thanked them.

As you approached you saw a crowd forming around someone and you couldn't help but peer to see what the commotion was. It was Yachi again, this time she was on the verge of fainting as guys tried to help her. But she was way too far in her delusions to think they were.

"I don't TASTE GOOD" she screamed, spinning in circles. As fast as you could you wiggled into the circle and put your arm around her.

"it's me yachi. It's y/n"  you told her to breathe and assured the guys that she just needed some space. Once you got her to calm down you went and got a plate for her, filled it with some food and told her to come over to where the girls were sitting. They took her in and started talking about the boys in the teams, you didn't want to get bullied more for bring Nishinoya's jacket the night before so you ran off to find the boy.

The smell of skirt steak filled your nose, damn it smelled so good. Noya could wait a bit, so you went heavy in pursuit to find food, it was were Bokuto a couple of his teammates were. You approached hoping that they wouldn't notice you but it didn't work out.

"HEY! You're that chick from Kurasuno right" you nodded awkwardly. "Thanks for helping out during training, I always looked forward to water breaks" he said with a big grin.

You thanked him and tried to get more food in peace, a couple more members approached and attempted to strike up conversation. "I already told Daichi about our plans to go to a water park tomorrow, he said he would ask around" Bokuto continued.

"Would you like to come with us?" said a buy with a straight expression, Bokuto had called him Akaashi.

It seemed really fun, but there was no way in hell you would go without the team. On top of that, being in a bathing suit made you uneasy, but it sounded like such a nice experience. "And the team would be going?" You asked cautiously.

"If Daichi says yes then probably" Bokuto said.

"Nekoma's coming too" added another with brown hair guy behind him.

"If Daichi says yes then sure" you said quietly. The boys' mood lifted even higher, they looked pretty happy that you might be going. You felt an arm snake around your shoulder to rest on your side.

"Are these punks bothering you?" Noya asked protectively.

"No, they were telling me about a water park" you responded.

"Oh! Daichi was just telling me about that" he said with a smile, "I think it's fun so I'll be there" he gave them a thumbs up.

"You will?" You asked, "so it's a thing?" He nodded happily, it was a thing. So now apparently you had plans to go to a water park tommorow, and the team would be staying one more night in the dorms.
