"father, why can't we visit the place where the mortals live? they don't believe we exist, although a few do love to use us as fuel to their delusional desires." a young devil pondered.

"you just answered your own question darling. the mortal world is completely different from ours, they wouldn't exactly welcome us. but don't worry! maybe someday, you'll be eligible enough to be summoned and 'help' those who perform the rituals correctly." answered lucifer, whose daughter smiled brightly in return.

"so there are people that love us! can't we go up there together?"

"no. never go up there on your own. it's dangerous. cats are quite the creatures, and so are some dogs, but humans, most are destined to insanity with just a glimpse of our kind. you're simply not old enough darling."

"i was hoping to never say this, but father, you certainly take the dare out of daredevil. i'll disappear now."

leaving the father slightly shocked and rolling his eyes out of disbelief, he left his daughter to run away. he had a lot of summonings and sacrifices to tend to anyway.

the pale girl ran up the stairs out of her father's lair, skipping up and down the flooring that was so cold they burned her feet if she didn't move fast enough.

confident and unaffected by her father's warning, the young female decided to go to the mortal world. if several billions of humans lived up there, she doubted she would curse many unsuspecting mortals.

for hours, the albino female continued her way up. even the shortcut took hours, yet she chose a long path known by few, not wanting to get caught by her father or one of her fellow demons.

this is not my first time sneaking out to see the world of mortals everyone here loves to curse daily. the coalition against humanity has been going on for centuries, but i when i first went there out of curiosity, i met someone. she was supposed to lose her mind! she was supposed to die, she was supposed to be cursed, traumatized! that is, after all, what happened to everyone else that even got the slightest glimpse of me. but she didn't. now i need to meet her again. something's wrong.

a few hours into her journey and she had arrived at her destination. hoping to elicit more clues about her unusual encounter from many nights before, this would just be the beginning.

"hi! i remember seeing you a few weeks before, but you disappeared into thin air before i could introduce myself. i'm f/n l/n, what's your name?" a soothing voice called, coming from a shy h/c child that appeared to be a few years younger than the ascended one.

"you can see me?" the demon questioned, trying not to sound too interested.

"of course, although i don't know why. i can also see people that look a lot like you, but they seem to wear a lot more... blue and white. it seems that red and black colors are just as beautiful."

"i... you're more than just immortal, i knew it," she said under her breath before continuing, "my name is kirari momobami. want to go somewhere with me? i'm sure we'll be seeing each other very often from now on. not many people can see immortals, in fact, people can't see them. i'll take you somewhere you'll really belong. don't you hate humans?"

"huh? everyone is nice here, go where-"

"do not move, do not go anywhere with that devil of a traitor! please f/n, wait." a new voice emerged, as the all-too-sudden frantic flap of wings assuaged with their newfound arrival next to f/n.

"ririka? what's going on?" f/n's face expressed nothing but confusion as she looked carefully at the girl in front of her, kirari, then back at the angel counterpart, ririka. the pair was engaging in an intense staring contest, neither wanting to blink first.

"go with me. i'm sure you don't even know her that well, manipulation is just as common overground as it is underground."

"f/n, if you're going to follow anyone it should be me. nothing bad could ever happen to you under the protection of an angel, you must know that getting officially admitted into the skies is harder than ivy league admissions."

"absolutely not. my dearest airhead, it doesn't take a brain to be nice. everyone knows being evil requires so much more effort and technique. if otherwise, why do the most intelligent choose evil over good?"

kirari smiled a tight-lipped smile as she sent f/n somewhere else, a quick decision that would change her fate forever. somehow being able to do so without breaking her glare. she quickly turned around, in the direction she came from.

"where are you going, kirari? i'm not done with you yet- wait where's f/n?" ririka looked around frantically; getting caught up with her heinous twin had successfully distracted her from the main objective.

"thanks for the help. you won't see f/n for a while. i sent her somewhere you won't see her until she reaches her immortality point. don't worry, that means i won't see her until then either. you know what else that means?"

"...no. what does that mean?" ririka asked reluctantly. she didn't want to express her approbation for her sister's action. it was smart, she would choose death over saying so out loud.

"when that happens, will be when we'll see each other again. so see you then." kirari faded away, only the visual of a faint smile left to haunt her counterpart.

ririka didn't want to translate the definition of her sister's last words. she only felt more insecure and anxious as of what was to come.

i can't lose to her, not again. that's what's been happening all throughout my mortal life and she knows that. i just don't know what i'll do with the pain of not having her with me without a life to end.

yet the unfortunate truth was that the place kirari had sent f/n on a complete whim was not the barren, cold place as perceived by most. it was a simple world beyond what mortals would call, 'off-the-grid.' just a few hours there, and f/n was to never remember the seven years of life among the mortals... or the twins that sealed her fate.

f/n was confused. she found herself in an unfamiliar, completely barren place. her skin felt as cold as ice and her existential mood lethargic. she only wanted to close her eyes and keep them closed.
